About

WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

    Love it! Always Amazing!

    by DDBrewer on 4/14/24

I see it every time it comes, and it is always so amazing, the actors/actresses were all so very awsome! And the set, the show, I mean everything was just wonderful, and just as awsome! And the people that work there, were wonderful, and so very helpful, I just love the Orpheum, so beautiful and so rich with history! I will always come back every time for this show and more!😊

Show was great but sound quality terrible.

by Pam on 4/14/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

The cast did a great job! This was my first experience at the Orpheum as well as seeing Wicked. Unfortunately, the quality of the sound where we sat front and center of the balcony was terrible. We did get headphones during the intermission which helped but I missed so much of the story line in the first half! I do hope this problem has been fixed by now, several days later.

    Not Impressed

by Simtech55 on 4/14/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

Most of the singing was unintelligible as if the microphones were to close to the performers. I had, along with others, a hard time listening to what was being sung or said. This made for an unenjoyable experience.

    Great Addition to Our Trip!

by TJ on 4/10/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

My wife and I were doing a road-trip through much of Tennessee including Memphis. We noticed that Wicked was playing there in the Orpheum and decided it would really add to our experience there. And we were correct. A lovely old theater environment, wonderful people there to assist you and a great show! We were so impressed with the caliber of acting and overall performances by these talented folks. So glad we decided to do this!

    The show was amazing

by Fayette fan on 4/10/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - Memphis

The show was amazing but the sound quality was lacking. We were in the balcony and missed some of the dialogue. For a first time seeing the show, I got the jist of what was going on but couldn’t hear everything.
