WICKED is a Tony-winning sensation that has been defying gravity and delighting Broadway audiences since 2003. With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the fantastical prequel to The Wizard of Oz was nominated for 10 Tony Awards after it opened at the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, and won three, including Best Actress for Idina Menzel, who played the original Elphaba. The musical’s first national tour opened in 2005 and ever since, WICKED’s touring production has criss-crossed North America offering theatergoers one short day in the Emerald City filled with magic, music and the ”untold true story of the Witches of Oz.” The second national tour — known as the “Munchkinland Tour” — has been an open-ended production since 2009 and now stars Olivia Valli as Elphaba and Celia Hottenstein as Glinda.

The recommended age for children to see WICKED is eight and up. However, rules for minimum age may vary by theater, so be sure to check for details and information about kids under eight at each specific venue. Children under five will not be admitted.

by BrianF on 4/15/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisI have seen this show at the Orpheum three times now and for some reason this time it was very difficult for me to hear the primary singer when a chorus was also singing. I’m not sure if this was because I was in the lower balcony and the speakers aren’t optimized for that area or if there was a sound mixing problem. Previous viewings have been in the mezzanine and the floor level. For the amount you pay for a ticket, audibly speaking, there shouldn’t be a “bad seat” in the house.

The sets were great and mind-blowing, costumes were gorgeous, and the singing was top-notch. The show really did its most iconic scene justice and "defied gravity."Would definitely see again!

And the set, the show, I mean everything was just wonderful, and just as awsome! And the people that work there, were wonderful, and so very helpful, I just love the Orpheum, so beautiful and so rich with history! I will always come back every time for this show and more!😊

by Pam on 4/14/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisThe cast did a great job! This was my first experience at the Orpheum as well as seeing Wicked. Unfortunately, the quality of the sound where we sat front and center of the balcony was terrible. We did get headphones during the intermission which helped but I missed so much of the story line in the first half! I do hope this problem has been fixed by now, several days later.
