Wow!
Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
I'm a huge West Side Story fan and have watched (recording of and one live) various casts, but this one brought something new to the table. Even though I often knew the lyrics and notes that were coming next, I was on the edge of my seat! Bravo!

West Side Story was top notch!
Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
I took my Mom & daughters for a girls nite out to see West Side Story. The Oriental Theater is a beautiful, historic, location for a classic musical...and West Side Story fit the bill perfectly! Wonderful pit orchestra helped to create the emotional mood of the show, and the actors were simply terrific! Overall a great experience and would recommend to all!!

Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
I was visiting Chicago and was able to get a last minute single ticket to the show. I had a center seat in the balcony.... the singers were incredible but the dancing knocked my socks off!

The cast was horrible. No pizazz no fire. Very flat.

Lacking credibility
Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
We have never critiqued anything but here goes......we are truly sorry to say our whole family (including 2 college age sons who LOVE and participate in theatre and music) noticed something missing.....although most individual actors were good by themselves, there was a huge lack of cohesiveness : (( We did not walk away feeling that the production was credible, as actors did not truly make their relationships to each other believable. It seemed they each were acting by themselves, for themselves but not as a group. Very disappointed for the amount of money we paid for the seats.

This was a great production of West Side Story. The actress who played Anita was amazing!!! The dancing was really awesome. It went by really quickly but was a great experience.

Love love this story
Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
West Side Story was the first movie I saw on a big screen in 61 in downtown Gary Indiana at the Palace Theatre. Cost 50 cents. I was 8. It was beautiful to me. The song One Hand One Heart was my wedding song 2 years ago when I married my 3rd husband!! & final husband!!

Just OK
Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago
I have been to a number of shows in Chicago, and I have to say that I was disappointed in West Side Story. My group and I felt that the lead characters were not that great. It was nearly impossible to understand much of what was being said and the vocal singing was not what we expected. We also felt that the "rape" scene was unnecessary to the story. Must say that this production is not on our "must see again" list. The seats were fine, however we had a very annoying person sitting behind us that was constantly clearing his throat and making pig like grunts through out the entire show. It was VERY distracting. We spoke to the usher regarding the situation and nothing was done.

The singing and dancing is fantastic!! I loved how they followed the movie and the actors were fantastic. Maria's voice was absolutely spectacular
More than fifty years ago one musical changed theater forever. Now it's back, and mesmerizing audiences once again. From the first note to the final breath, West Side Story soars as the greatest love story of all time. Directed by David Saint, using Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction, West Side Story remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway's finest and features such classics of the American musical theatre as "Something's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere."
