West Indies Cricket
by Maylyn on 7/17/12Central Broward Regional Park - LauderhillThe weather was fantastic, a great day for an outdoor event. It was a terrific turnout and everyone was excited for this event being the first of its kind here in South Florida. There were Caribbean folks from all over, My relatives came in from Orlando, so it was a definite treat. However, entrance to the designated locations were improperly arranged. We had Party tickets ($65) and were advised to enter through where the less expensive ($20) were being collected. It took us about thirty minutes before we were let through. No one gave us wrist bands and once inside were confronted by a very rude usher who refused to advise where we can get them and called Security for us. We were then escorted by a police officer who took us to the correct location and we waited another thirty minutes before we could obtain them. Of course the wrist bands were our ID for refreshments. There was even a patron who had purchased a ticket for $125 and was tagging along with us. Needless to say, we missed quite a portion of the game. In the end, it turned out well and we enjoyed ourselves due to the comraderie and the good time for which Caribbean folks are known. I will definitely do it again, but please, please equip your ushers with correct info so that a great time could be held by all. Maybe if there were signs identifying gate entrances, it would have been a lot easier. Regards.
