    West Indies Cricket

by Maylyn on 7/17/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

The weather was fantastic, a great day for an outdoor event. It was a terrific turnout and everyone was excited for this event being the first of its kind here in South Florida. There were Caribbean folks from all over, My relatives came in from Orlando, so it was a definite treat. However, entrance to the designated locations were improperly arranged. We had Party tickets ($65) and were advised to enter through where the less expensive ($20) were being collected. It took us about thirty minutes before we were let through. No one gave us wrist bands and once inside were confronted by a very rude usher who refused to advise where we can get them and called Security for us. We were then escorted by a police officer who took us to the correct location and we waited another thirty minutes before we could obtain them. Of course the wrist bands were our ID for refreshments. There was even a patron who had purchased a ticket for $125 and was tagging along with us. Needless to say, we missed quite a portion of the game. In the end, it turned out well and we enjoyed ourselves due to the comraderie and the good time for which Caribbean folks are known. I will definitely do it again, but please, please equip your ushers with correct info so that a great time could be held by all. Maybe if there were signs identifying gate entrances, it would have been a lot easier. Regards.

    T20 not worth it

by Windies on 7/9/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

As much as I wanted the T20 to succeed in Ft Lauderdale, it was a huge disappointment. Not enough vendor, and ground not suitable for intl cricket.

    Cricket in Florida

Compared with the Saturday match, this one was much better organized for car parking and entry to the stadium.

    Deceptive Advertising

by Jamaican123 on 7/7/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

I attended the game on Sunday July 2, 2012 and was disappointed with the lack of organization. There were no signs posted to direct you to any of the entrances based on the section. In my case I had a ($65) VIP ticket with section number and a seat number. This was a sectioned off area on the grass with no seating and no covering from the 2pm sun in south Florida, I did not buy this ticket for the alcohol because i don't drink but thought this would be more comfortable than the lower priced seats. The alcohol, sun and no seating create havoc, there was a fight because folks were standing before each other blocking their view.

    Cricket matches were enjoyable

by VPer on 7/6/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

Great stadium to view cricket matches and the games were great. I have the following constructive suggestions for future matches: 1) Have separate lines for the East pavilion vs the West pavilion. 2) Double or triple the amount of metal detectors which will speed up the process. A lot of fans were in line for a long time after the game started. 3) Streamline the "food court" by: -Have the cashier and "drink dispenser" at the same place so that you do not have to join 1 line for paying then another for picking up your drinks. -Use "colored" tickets so that 1 color could have a value of $5. As a result, someone purchasing 4 beers will receive 4 tickets as opposed to standing there while the cashier could out 20 tickets for you. 4) Tickets should allow fans to choose whether they want to sit in the East pavilion OR West pavilion.

digicel 20/20 cricket in lauderhill fl

by NANDA71 on 7/6/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

The stadium/venue was great, however the organization and planning skills were quite poor. I was in line to park inside the stadium for 2+ hours and had to park at the mall. The "event security" folks were rude, rough and obnoxious... could not get a clear sense of protocol to follow. ... and they had no clue how to handle such a large crowd. When the game started at 3 pm there were more people in line than in the stadium. Game time was at 3 pm and the traffic control folks were putting out parking cones at 2:30 pm... on the main highway. The line for drinks and the ticket system was poorly organized.... needed more uniform officers and less "event security" folks... I REALLY RECOMMEND A REVIEW/CHANGE OF PROTOCOL FOR FUTURE EVENTS....

West Indies Cricket alive and well

by tapharii on 7/5/12Central Broward Regional Park - Lauderhill

I was very excited to see a first class one day match in S.Florida for the first time. I hope this is a sign of more international cricket coming to this area..The game should have been played for 30 or 35 overs, thus starting earlier. This would be a win win situation for cricket lovers, the vendors(more time to make more money) and the organizers.

At last professional cricket in Lauderhill! Such a treat for all us UK & Commonwealth people. The crowd was having a great time. Hopefully this match won't be the last one for a while as the support is here for professional cricket.
