This is the first time I have ever been in a concert where the conductor came back for four encores. Antoni Wit is an amazing, gestural conductor.
There was a couple at the mezzanine level, who fell asleep during the second half of the concert and snored (quite loudly I must say) until the ushers came to wake them up. Mr. Wit must have heard them too. I would not have been surprised, if he stopped the orchestra. But he did not. He continued the performance without paying any attention to them. And, perhaps, he was so deeply involved with the music that he did not hear them at all. Anyway, if you ever get the chance to listen to Warsaw Philharmonic with Wit do not hesitate a second. You will not be disappointed!
