Celebrate the holiday season with one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time, THE MUSIC MAN! It's 1912 and the lovable, fast-talking con man "Professor" Harold Hill arrives in River City, Iowa promising the townsfolk that he can teach the town's children how to play in a magnificent marching band if they buy uniforms and instruments from him. It's all part of a big swindle, but falling in love with the town librarian wasn't part of the deal. With classic tunes that include "Ya Got Trouble," "Goodnight My Someone," "Till There Was You," and the show-stopping "Seventy-Six Trombones," THE MUSIC MAN is an irresistible, all-American musical for the entire family!

It was excellent. The girl who played Marian had a wonderful singing voice. However, her speaking parts were sometimes difficult to hear. Was it an electronic problem, or did she speak too softly. Same goes for Winthrop who''s lisp was not discernible. However, neither of these problems detracted from the show. The quartet was wonderful.
Excellent on every level...acting, singing, set design, scenery, orchestration. I loved it.
The show was fantastic! The actors were all spectacular and their voices were wonderful. I was expecting certain scenes and there they were just like l pictured them but better. It was funny and entertaining. Our seats were great. The costumes were beautiful. I was so glad we went.
Fantastic singing, dancing, and acting. The sets and costumes and music (the pit) were wonderful. My only concern is why was a real live horse (Jimmy) used in the show? It seemed unnecessary to have this horse appear in all the shows.
thought the cast was excellent...Harold Hill and the Mayors's wife was outstanding. The staging along with the costumes were great. Would highly recommend this show for a great time and of course the music (orchestra) was great! One of the best productions to remember.
I'd never seen The Music Man before and was pleasantly surprised - the singing, the choreography, and the small touches by the cast were all extremely entertaining. Well done!
I brought my parents to the show as a present to them (I remembered how much they had enjoyed the movie many years ago). The show did not disappoint as my parents thoroughly LOVED it !! As it turns out, I enjoyed the show as much as they did. I had forgotten how many classics were in this musical. Great experience!!
Music Man is such a great show and has weathered the test of time. It is simply fun! Once again, the Walnut Street Theater has chosen a great cast & crew. They did a fabulous job! It was obvious that they were all having fun and the mood was infectious.
This was one of those occasions where childhood memories were met and exceeded. I had some concern going in that there was a decent chance that time might have passed this show by. The beauty was however, that the show was no more corny now than it was back in 1957 when it first hit the boards. As it takes place around 1912 and in Iowa, a little corn is expected and welcome. The cast was uniformly excellent. Of special note, besides the two leads, I found the young lady who played Amaryllis (the piano student) to be of particular note. I watched the movie version the following day and I was surprised to see that she outperformed her celluloid counterpart. I was also a little surprised that I was a bit creeped out by the visual age discrepancy between Robert Preston and Shirley Jones. I found the roles of Mayor Shinn and Mrs Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn to be played a bit over the top with Mrs Shinn getting the better of it. The dancing and choreography was well above par and in some numbers was extremely helpful in creating the spectacle that I was afraid might have been lacking. It's hard to compete with the memories of the spectacle created in the film version, yet I didn't feel the least cheated in that regard. The set design was fairly spectacular itself, so far as using the allotted space to create the atmosphere so vital to this production. All in all the play held up extremely well and the production was everything you could ask for. It produced the exact comment from me that this play deserves, as we arose from our seats, I turned to my wife and said "That was the best time I've had in ages."
