The cast was great! Definitely a talented group of kids, but there were sound issues for the first couple of scenes. You could hardly hear Horton in the beginning and then once they fixed his mic the other characters were either too loud or you couldn't hear them. I was definitely disappointed because I have been to several shows at the Walnut Street Theater so I was really looking forward to a great show.

by Kelmel2 on 10/1/13Walnut Street Theatre - PhiladelphiaWow, the story was great. But when I read the title of suessical jr. I assumed it would be a myriad of Dr. Suess's stories. Unfortunately this was not the case, My son was overjoyed at talent that his peer group displayed. The only issue were the lack of Props. Come on, isn't props and prop making the best thing about a play. Also, Children are very creative. I would have enjoyed seeing personal creations on stage. A character dressed in costume as Dr. Suess or Horton . This is the second play that we have seen here and I felt the same thing regarding the props ( i.e. Encyclopedia Brown). But I think I will stick to Arden, they really work hard at boosting a childs imagination and love for the Arts.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Poorly done
by Anzoid on 9/24/13Walnut Street Theatre - PhiladelphiaScenery from main stage show was distracting, costumes seemed very minimal, music was mainly from Horton Hears a Who without much other inspiration. My 4 year old attends occasional events and performances (not specidicaly geared for children) and is usually more entertained.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Better for older kids
by Anzoid on 9/24/13Walnut Street Theatre - PhiladelphiaVoices were great, but there was little other draw. As an adult I found the story line hard to follow and not a lot of acting to support the songs.
