Champagne and laughter will explode with Noël Coward's timeless comedy Private Lives. Glamorous, rich and reckless, Elyot and Amanda have been divorced from each other for five years. Now both are honeymooning with their new spouses in the South of France. When by chance they meet again across adjoining hotel balconies, their romantic feelings for each other are immediately rekindled. Without a care for scandal, new partners or memories of what drove them apart in the first place, they hurl themselves headlong into love and lust. Private Lives is a dazzling, witty masterpiece and considered to be one of the greatest comedies ever written!

Private Lives was a very good show, with a good cast and terrific sets, particularly that for the 2nd and 3rd act, which was a Paris apartment; really superb. The play is the usual Noel Coward play, with witty lines and quick timing. Quite funny. But the star of the show is really Kathleen Wallace, whose face could twist into many expressions, whose long arms accented what she was saying and feeling, and whose limber body danced around the stage. Very funny! It's worth going just to see her. Reminds me of Bebe Neuwirth.
We were all very disappointed! While the sets were beautiful and the acting good, the play just lacked any excitement. It bordered on boring. The ticket prices were too high for what it was!
Loved the scenery and British accents along with the comedy and chemistry the characters portrayed.
So glad we went. The cast and sets were amazing. Can't believe it was this first time in this theater for several of the cast. Hope they will be back. All of the employees I came in contact with were polite and helpful The Barymore Bar was a wonderful find. I'm sure we will attend this theater again.
Very good show and beautifully executed by a talented group. Sets were very nice.
The actors did a fine job. The story line was ridiculous. A number of people left thre theater prior to the end of the show,
Private Lives kept our attention all night, but I'm not sure what the point of the story was. The actors/actresses did a great job with what they were given.
This was the first time at the Walnut Street Theater and I would definitely go back to the theater but to see a different show. This was the worse play I have ever seen. The acting and the plot was just horrible. The scenery for the only two acts was well done. I am only writing this b/c I don't want anyone else to waste their money on this show. I wish I read the reviews before I went. Definitely check out this theater it is pretty amazing just not the show!!
In general, my wife and I enjoyed it. It was well acted and amusing. There were a number of times, however, where the endurance of another round dialogue became monotonous.
