About

From the composer of The Phantom of the Opera comes Broadway's musical romance, Aspects of Love. This complex and deeply moving musical celebrates grand passion, true love and unbridled loss.  It's the 1940s and Alex Dillingham, a young student travelling through France, falls in love with the alluring actress Rose Vibert.  The unexpected arrival of Alex's uncle changes their lives forever. It's a heartbreaking love story where six people and three generations come together to discover that "Love Changes Everything."  Andrew Lloyd Webber's (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita) soaring melodies will touch your heart.

"Aspects of Love" displays many aspects of love.

by cruisejoy on 10/24/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

My husband, some friends and I saw this play on Saturday. I liked the storyline, and the actors and actresses had very good singing voices. I liked the score, but not as much as many of the other plays I have seen. I thought it was a good production.

Very good acting and singing. Well done. I think more of a "ladies" show than a "mans" show. My female companion loved it. I enjoyed it.

    misleading description

by nonameame on 10/23/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

My 19 year old daughter & I were eagerly anticipating an enriching evening of live theater @ the Walnut Street Theater (WST) to see Aspects of Love. The summary on the theater's website highlighted a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber - a plus, because, well who didn't love Phantom of the Opera? The summary also mentioned "a romantic musical, filled with passion, love & loss". Yes, we love romantic stories 'spanning 3 generations, across France & Italy'. "Filled with passion, love & love" - what I didn't realize was that passion, love & loss equated to lesbianism, incest & adultery. Should I have read in between the lines? I didn't think I had to. I am shocked that the WST - dignified, historical venue would mislead perspective theater goers with such a benign description of a dysfunctional musical. The voices singing the soaring melodies were gorgeous - very talented actors & actresses. But the story behind the melodies touched my heart alright... it made my heart sick. I would hope the WST would be forthright. In retrospect I wished we had walked out during Act I. Rather than an enriching experience it was disturbing.

    Didn't like "...Love"

by Mastodon on 10/22/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

Saw it 3 times on Broadway and loved it. This production was not physically gracious or artistic. The set design irritated after awhile with all the white curtains and ugly set pieces and stagehands/actors in slips and bare feet. The casting was not appropriate and the direction and pacing were awkward and slow. Especially the second act where pacing is everything. I would not recommend this show to anyone.

While the singing was laudable, the plot could only be described as tasteless and lowbrow.

    Aspects of Love

Love the play! Actors (esp.George) wonderful voices. However, Sunday matinees appear to be senior days (I am 64) ..they did not respond w/ applause, some actually walked out during curtain call. Disappointed w/ way people acted..Sincerely hope performers did not see them walking out!

    Aspects of disappointment

by schnookered on 10/15/11Walnut Street Theatre - Philadelphia

I only decided to go to this show because it was an Andrew Lloyd Webber show. I had heard nothing about it but assumed at least the music would be good. The story line is poor and pathetic. It could have been written by the guy who spends his time in his mothers basement watching inappropriate material on his computer. The music is mediocre at best with no real "unforgettable" tunes. The acting was OK but again no stand outs. Do not go see this!!! This could be a twin bill with Titanic - two disasters.
