by JoL on 5/18/22Walnut Street Theatre - PhiladelphiaI've never been to a show at the Walnut Street Theatre that I didn't enjoy, but this one REALLY missed the mark. I’ve been to Nashville several times, and any Joe Shmoe on the street corner could do Patsy Cline more justice than what we saw on Saturday. Beyond that, the whole production was one step above dinner theater. The delivery (especially the Louise character) was way over-exaggerated and kitschy, the actress playing Patsy Cline didn't sound anything like Patsy Cline… which maybe was the point, but in that case, no thank you. And to put the cherry on top, the last note she sang before the intermission was so flat, it made my toes curl. Needless to say, we did not return after intermission.

Her voice is as close to Patsy's as you will get. She's just amazing. The music was at perfect volume. The actress who plays Louise is equally fantastic. All of Patsy's best songs are included. I will never forget this show! Run, don't walk, to Always...Patsy Cline.
