Brighton Music Hall is a small venue, but it was beyond perfect for this concert. It allowed Mike Grubbs to interact with his fans and we all felt like we were part of the show. She's an amazing showman, and his your mate Jillette Johnson was the perfect opener. I go to A LOT of shows and this one is by far one of the best.
AMAZING! Casey Shea opened and was such a cutie and his audience interactions made his performance that much better and memorable. Jillette Johnson is the most unique and amazing artist I've seen and heard from in years. We arrived early and stood right on the edge of the stage...my purse and drinks rested here. Mike Grubbs killed ! it. I turned my boyfriend into a fan of all the performers. Wakey!Wakey! was flawless.
As soon as I got word Jillette Johnson was playing the Bowery, I jumped on the tickets. I would have easily paid $75 plus to see her and felt like I committed highway robbery paying $15. She is an incredible artist and blows her album, "Water in a Whale," out of the water live! She is a MUST see for anyone who is looking to get sincerely entertained musically and vocally! Her voice IS a torpedo that aims and anchors into your soul. You def get grounded in the moment and lost in the performance. The respect in the room when she covered a sultry and haunting version of Radiohead's Creep, was palpable and pretty damn incredible to witness.
The opening acts, Casey Shea and Jillette Johnson, delivered just as good a show as the main act, Wakey!Wakey! All three performers interacted with the audience, playing off of us and making us a part of their performances. I really enjoyed the song selections and the quality of the live music.
All three performers were amazing. It was my first time at the Bowery Ballroom and the sound was great.
The venue was perfect for a show like wakey wakey. They were unbelievable live, even better than the album bc you got the real deal and such an interesting group of people. The atmosphere was alive and passionate and I'd do anything to go again!
Very intimate space and amazing performances by all! Sound was incredible
Nothing's better than a man with his piano and voice. Except a man with his piano and voice and a violin.
One of the best concerts I have ever been to. My sister and I are from Indianapolis, IN and we drove about 3 hours to Columbus, OH to see Wakey! Wakey! We heard of Mike Grubbs from the hit T.V. show, One Tree Hill, and instantly fell in love with the sound of his music! When we found out that he was going to be playing nearby, there was no doubt that we were going. The atmosphere was great and it was an enjoyable evening! FRONT ROW BABY! :)
