    Spectacular Political Comedy

by Ric on 3/19/19The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

We honestly didn't even know exactly what kind of show it was going to be. We were just excited to finally see W. Kumau on stage. It was a great night with the bonus of Dwayne Kennedy. All three comics were hilarious, and the extra time with both Hari and Kumau together at the end was great. Just a couple of funny people chatting. Nice extra was getting the chance to meet and chat with both Kumau and Hari after the show. Gorgeous theatre too.

    Had Me at Hello

by Miss My Afro on 3/19/19The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

Kamau delivered big time! A quick wit with keen observation and compassionate candor is true to his TV persona. And, his opening act Dwayne Kennedy is a brilliant star ... I want more! Hari Kandabolu rounded out the show nicely. Great ensemble! #5stars

I'll see this guy any day

by Joel707 on 3/5/18Punch Line Comedy Club - San Francisco - San Francisco

One of the true gems of comedy these days. If you love his podcast, or his CNN show, then his comedy will make your sides hurt from laughing. I didn't care too much for his first two openers. The third one was the best, naturally. My seats kind of sucked because I was to the wall, and felt squished. Next time I'll show up earlier.

Kamau Bell - Insightful and Really Funny

by RedgeL on 2/1/18Punch Line Comedy Club - San Francisco - San Francisco

We became addicted to Kamau's "United Shades of America" show on CNN, and had to see him when he came to SF. He did not disappoint. He has amazing insights into politics, interpersonal relations, family life, etc and is HILARIOUS! We also really enjoyed the opening act comedians, Zarah Noorbakhsh and Dwayne Kennedy. Everyone was side-splittingly funny!

    W. Kamau Bell at 20 Monroe Live

by REICFO on 6/20/1720 Monroe Live - Grand Rapids

This is a comedian who I adore because he helps me see the world through his eyes. He is politically sharp and his humor is smart. I laughed until my face hurt and my voice was raspy. 20 Monroe Live is a fantastic venue. The staff were proactive and helpful. They have a good selection of drinks. The venue is clean and well organized. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.

Kamau Bell - know before you go

    by AYoung56 on 6/13/17Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

We've seen Kamau Bell's show "United Shades of America" on CNN and loved them. Mr. Bell clearly is crazy smart and has his fingers on the pulse of many hot issues here in the U.S. So, dummy me, I bought TWO tickets, instead of one like I should have, to see him at the Attucks Theater in Norfolk. And unfortunately, the one biggest fault of the love of my life is his support of the orange one in office. (I know. I feel sorry for me too.) So when Kamau's show covered a lot of anti-Trump commentary, pro Colin Kaepernick commentary, and (cover your ears please) "Baseball is boring as F^ck" commentary, my love sitting there steaming. Thank God, he's not one of those rednecks that will do something overt when he disagrees. He even politely clapped for Mr. Bell at the end of the show. I agreed with most of what Mr. Bell had to say. It spurred a pretty lengthy conversation between my love and I about the Star Spangled Banner and what Colin Kaepernick was (quietly) protesting and that he was NOT saying that he didn't support our military but everyone wants to assign added meanings to CK's protest instead of looking at what CK actual said, and then taking an honest look at the true statistics surrounding police brutality and the unfair percentage of police shootings of people of color etc. So, next thing you know, we're in a heated argument. All I can say is, it's worth it if my orange-president-supporting love can start seeing the facts a bit more clearly. This evening with Kamau Bell wasn't quite what I thought it to be, and had I brought a more liberal friend with me instead of my beau, I probably would have left their smiling like crazy. By the way, as the mom of two (now adult) biracial boys, I could really connect with the hilarity of many of Mr. Bell's stories about raising his two little girls.

    Fun Evening

    by dbg50 on 5/25/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

I have been a fan of his show on CNN for a while now but didn't realize how funny he was as a stand up comedian. His observations spot on and relevant, his timing and ability to connect with the crowd was really enjoyable. Warm act comedian was also very entertaining, Defanitely should catch him next time he is town

    W. Kamau Bell is Amazing

by JunkoH on 5/24/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

    W. Kamau Bell is having super relevant conversations about race and culture in America with his audiences through the adventuresome and effective lens of comedy. Bell's perspective as an African-American man, father to a mixed race child, along with his easy-going but still incisive style makes him an ideal person to encourage audiences of all stripes to reflect, learn and laugh at all the crazy, often disturbing things happening in American politics and society past and present. He's that rare person who can bridge the divide. Most importantly, he's a hilarious comedian who will have you laughing all night long.
