    Good but needs some help

    by DarkSquid3 on 10/28/16Portsmouth Pavilion - Portsmouth

Parking was easy if you knew where to look. I really liked how the beer vendors were close together and centrally located. Made things easier. The 'Bacon' part was a little lacking. The one main food fender had a 30min lines. This was my 2nd one. 1st was by Chrysler Hall. I will always support this but would like it to grow back up in size. Don't forget the Culinary Institute of Virginia. They had a bacon cooking contest at the CHall one!

    Horrible Event

    by Brina40 on 10/25/16Portsmouth Pavilion - Portsmouth

This was a HUGE disappointment in comparison to 2013's festival at the Norfolk Scope. On top of the $15 general admission they wanted an additional $15 for bacon sampling yet there were only 3 bacon vendors and one of them ran out of food. My boyfriend and I arrived at 1:30 and left before 2. Everyone should be refunded their money!

Not as good as last year

by JRS23707 on 10/13/15NTelos Wireless Pavilion - Portsmouth

My best buddy and I bought tickets and attended both the 2014 event and the 2015 event. We were both disappointed with the more limited number of food vendors and food items to purchase as well as the limited number of vendors in general, food-related and non-food related. No jars of bacon jams. No bacon wrapped onion rings. The lack of variety in all areas was very disappointing. Last year, we spent most of the afternoon taking in everything. This year we were there for less than three hours. Also missing this year, and advertised on your website, was the bourbon tasting booth. All in all, we were embarrassed that we had endorsed this event and recommended it to friends and colleagues. Finally, although the venue was much more scenic with the Portsmouth waterfront as a backdrop, the main sights to see---the harbor and ships---were blocked from view by the tents. Their set up also made it difficult to move towards the railing to get a closer view of the waterfront area. The setting which could have contributed greatly to the event was not used wisely in the physical arrangement and setup.
