About
For five centuries, the Vienna Boys Choir has entertained millions with their exceptionally beautiful singing. With a repertoire that includes favorite classical pieces, popular and contemporary songs, as well as lively International and Austrian folk tunes, they combine both the pure, angelic voices of youth with the power and polish of seasoned professionals.
With origins that trace back to 1498 (as court singers), the choir today is a very modern and forward-facing enterprise. For their February performances, the 24-voice touring choir's new choirmaster, Johannes Kobald, premieres an original composition he's written specifically for this tour. His Kyrie eleison combines modern elements of soul and jazz with the Gregorian Mass of the World. The piece highlights both the choir's heritage and the contemporary lives and musical influences of its young members.

Their singing and the music were everything I expected and more. The talent involved was incredible! The conductor did a marvelous job! I hope they come this way again.

While their voices were pleasant, they weren’t in sync with movements, their costumes needed a good ironing and they just seemed done with this tour.

The pictures used in the advertising were misleading, however, because we thought there was going to be an orchestra. There was only a piano and occasionally one violin, played by one of the choir boys. Overall it was very good and enjoyable Christmas music from around the world.

by TXMountain on 11/22/19Charline McCombs Empire Theatre - San AntonioThe Vienna Boys' Choir has basically been around since the 14th century. I wanted be part of history and see them at least once in my lifetime. I was not disappointed. The venue in San Antonio is not the greatest. The Maestro was young and very entertaining. All the boys sang beautifully and in spite of their age, they were well behaved. I think everyone should go at least once in their life. Another bucket list item checked.
