    A few standouts.

by AshburnMMAFan on 10/4/09Patriot Center - Fairfax

The event had what promised to be a great lineup, but aside from a few great fighters, most of the bouts were forgettable. Weak standup and even weaker ground games plagued most of the lighter weight classes. The 185 and 170 classes did not disappoint, and the Runez vs. Dodson fight was exciting and full of surprises. Unfortunately, the judging of the other co-main event (Beebe vs. Easton) was a travesty. Apparently spending 4 rounds in the fetal position with your opponent on your back is good enough to retain your "World Champion" belt. But as they say, don't leave it to the judges.

Excellent fights, the set up for viewing was very well done. The video screens let me see action i was missing. Also they brought the fights out quick which i really appreciated.

Great fights but step-backwards in production

by Ertz on 10/4/09Patriot Center - Fairfax

It seems that the UWC is putting on great fights but their marketing must be falling short because the crowd was quite smaller this time versus UWC 6. It doesn't surprise me when all of their ads mention their account on Myspace, as Myspace is a dead horse & who uses that anymore. It just makes them look way less reputable and should be dropped. The production value was hurt as there were no intro videos & only two overhead screens. Where I was sitting (center cage) I had to turn and look over my shoulder to see the one video screen because the one in front of me was obstructed by errant scaffolding. No reason to not have 4 screens up.
