Holiday with the Hoos was absolutely a must see!!!

by CarolSoderlund on 12/5/11John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

This was a wonderful event to go to. I try every year to see the marching band in one way or the other such as this Holiday with the Hoos or the battle or the bands like in the past UVA vs. VA Tech. My family enjoys this very much. The UVA Band is very professional and very uplifting to listen to. Any CD's or DVD's in the future??

Holiday with the Hoos was a great Christmas event!

by BillyJones on 12/4/11John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

This was my family's first time attending Holiday with the Hoos and we will definitely make it a Christmas tradition in the future. It was great to hear the band up close and enjoy their numbers from this last season. I would definitely recommend this performance to a friend.

A band concert, not a Christmas concert

by guitarmaven on 12/4/11John Paul Jones Arena - Charlottesville

The Cavalier Marching Band Holiday Concert was not as advertised on the radio. Yes, it was a "concert", and it took place before a holiday. But the emphasis was not on holiday music, and the a capella groups mentioned on the radio ads consisted of one group singing two songs. My biggest complaint, though, was the obnoxious PA announcer and PA system- far too loud for a concert. I have been to many (many) rock concerts, and have a pretty good tolerance for volume, but this was over the top, particularly for the setting and audience (parents, old people, children). The band was quite good, but I was disappointed overall. Not what was advertised, and not what I was expecting.
