What was up with the sound?

by runamokus on 6/13/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I have always wanted to see U.K.. I was a fan since it's inception, however, I never was able to experience them live. I was very disappointed in the show not because of the band but because of the sound. It was terrible. Terry Bozzio's drums sounded like cardboard boxes and the audio guy missed several cues. For instance,Eddie would start a keyboard solo or John Wetton would start to sing and they couldn't be heard. It was like the sound engineer didn't know the material. I have looked at videos of other tour dates and they sound fine. A major disappointment!

Fantastic! A tad rough in the beginning but once the lads hit their groove, juuust fantastic! After all the years that have past by, they are still extraordinarily gifted musicians.

    Great show

by beyondthebassclef on 6/11/12Aladdin Theater - Portland

Loved seeing UK again after all these years. They put on a great show, but it could have been a tad louder. First time I've said that for the Aladdin, the sound there is almost always perfect. That would be the only knock, love the venue love the band

    UK at Aladdin

by Anonymous on 6/11/12Aladdin Theater - Portland

This was not only a terrible show but a waste of my time and money. After the band took the stage (30 minutes AFTER scheduled time) Lead singer John Wetton informed the crowd that he had a cold and was grateful for American Pharmaceuticals. They didn't work. By the second song, Wetton's voice was gone. Extended soloing by the two other band members did not make up for this group's inability to perform. If you aren't feeling well, reschedule the show, or give me back my money. This is VERY unfair to the audience. 100 bucks and an evening of my life I won't get back.

    uk, just ok

    by prophet10 on 5/3/12Showcase Live - Foxboro

A long anticipated event, the second night of the UK reunion tour (chicago being the first) was a rocky evening for Eddie, John and Terry. Jobson's synth rig acted up for the whole evening. During one breakdown he explained that his keyboards were running four laptops as his rig, or more specifically, he had brought not one single synthesizer to the stage. Sure, the samples he runs are meticulously captured from his original rig, but playing a synthesizer and running clones from a laptop are two different animals. Latency( a delay between hitting a key and a sound coming out) and unwanted swells and drops in volumes were prolific. These are common problems with laptop driven keyboards, but not real synths. This problem hampered several songs, particularly the duet on Crimson's Fallen Angel. Wetton was in good voice on all songs, able to hit the notes that he sometimes fails to reach (it is early in the tour) and Bozzio worked like a madman to cover up the failings of the gear. Overall, not a great show, not a bad show. More like the third night of rehearsals before a real tour starts. Note to Eddie: get some real synths back into your rig and ditch the laptops. Fans want to see some huge gear out there, and a vintage board or two wouldn't hurt. Although this was only their second show in 33 years, it was a bit of a tenuous performance. Needs work.

    UNBELIEVABLE

by gummby on 5/5/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

UK Reunion show was one of the best shows I have seen in a while. They played note for note like the albums.Eddie Jobson is truly a virtuoso. The band was amazing, I pay to see them again in a different place.

    A Rendezvous 8:00 with UK

by HeavyHorse on 4/26/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

The concert was excellent. The band played almost all of the songs off of all three UK albums with only a few not included. They also played some King Crimson music. These would include "Starless", "One More Red Nightmare" and "Book of Saturday". The concert concluded with "Rendezvous 6:02". I can't say how much I enjoyed hearing the music of UK. I never expected to be able to hear this music live again and being able to was a great pleasure for me. The UK 30th reunion concert at SF was prog-rock heaven!

    amazing performance

by DM308 on 4/26/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

these four muscisions put on a fantastic performance, with each one excelling at what they do. the UK musical compositions have stood the test of time and still have relevance today. it is amazing to watch them play the complex structures of the songs with true passion and daunting talent. i hope their reward was the appreciation of their audience, that was blown away. i also hope that they will acknowledge that fan reaction and appreciation and tour again...... i would love to see them again!

One of the best shows I have ever seen!

by VGMV on 4/26/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

I've been hoping to see UK for almost 30 years and it was worth the wait. I never thought I'd have a chance of seeing them, so it was especially rewarding. Overall, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I hope I don't have to wait another 30 years!

The best show I've seen in a long time

by rockndoc on 4/26/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

These guys were just awesome. Played most of the 2 UK albums along with some King Crimsom things from Red, Starless and Lark's Tougue. Unfortunately, this was the last show of the tour and Wetton is off to play with Asia next week. Drummer was absolutely a monster and the guitar player rivaled many a guitar slinger I've seen for years. Even my wife loved the show and she's not a real concert goer. If these guys ever play anywhere again, I'd fly halfway around the world to see them again. Absolutely amazing musicianship of the highest caliber.
