Tyrese Gibson, known to most simply as Tyrese, has the art of ticket sales down. Not only has he forged a successful music career, but he’s also a driving force in “The Fast and the Furious” movie franchise — not to mention an international supermodel, MTV VJ and New York Times bestseller. The Los Angeles-born R&B singer has sold more than 3 million albums and counting, beginning with his 1998 self-titled RCA Records debut and extending through his fifth release, 2011’s “Open Invitation.” He took home an American Music Award in 2000 for Favorite New R&B/Soul Artist, as well as three Grammy Award nominations.
In 2007, Tyrese joined forces with Ginuwine and Tank to form the supergroup TGT. The trio unveiled their long-awaited debut album, “Three Kings,” in August 2013, and took their sexy R&B on tour, performing concerts in theaters across the U.S.
Tyrese is preparing to unveil his sixth solo set, “Black Rose,” in 2014. The collection will be a double album, according to a March 2013 interview with the Grammy Foundation, for which he recorded 146 songs over the course of 34 days.
