American ambient prodigy Tycho's lush, arpeggiated instrumentals blend electro and hip-hop elements to mesmerizing effect, taking listeners on chilled-out trips through shimmering sonic landscapes. At his hypnotic, visuals-heavy live shows, Tycho is joined by a talented backing band that adds even further dimension to his intricately crafted songs. With a new album slated for release in early 2014, Tycho is primed to deliver another round of unforgettable performances on select tour dates in Europe and North America.
Tycho is the project of San Francisco-based musician and graphic designer Scott Hanson, launched in 2002 with the release of The Science of Patterns EP. The aptly-named release showcased Hanson's skill for creating breathtakingly kaleidoscopic compositions out of repetitions and patterns. His 2004 debut full-length Sunrise Projector drew praise from critics and fans alike, establishing him as an ambient force to be reckoned with. Over the years Hanson's arrangements have evolved to include other instruments and players — for 2014's Awake, Tycho returns as a three-piece, featuring organic elements like guitar and bass alongside their signature wash of synths and electronic beats.
