Great energy, great musicians, fun evening! Well worth the $$!
Honestly, I hadn't heard about the Turnpikes until this show, with that said, they didn't disappointment me - truly impressed and truly enjoyed the performance. Cody Jinks, on the other hand, was not what I had expected. I listen to his records all the time and I actually was looking forward to the show. Maybe he was just not having the right kind of night - so if the opportunity arises - I'll try again.
I thought I bought tickets that had Cody Jinks as the headliner. I have never heard of Turnpike Troubadours and was surprised and disappointed that they were the main event. I don't know any of their songs and was there to see Cody, had I known I never would have spent that much money.
The beginning of the concert was rough, the sound was poor and quiet in the far sections with the opener (Trampled by Turtles) and the co-headliner (Cody Jinks). Both of these bands seemed forced with headbanging and theatrics and it didn't always match the energy of the crowd or music. It also took 10+ mins between bands to set up, so there was a lot of down time. However, when Turnpike Troubadours came out, the sound and lighting was so much better, and the crowd was very excited and standing up to sing for every song. My fiancé and I had a much better experience at the second half and we can't wait to see TT play live again!
The sound quality was horrible!!! We have been to several concerts at that venue before, with no problems. We could not hear the singers lyrics, as their level was low and muffled. The sound mixer did a horrible job of mixing the sound.
Turnpike and Jinks were fantastic, but Trampled by Turtles blew the roof off the place!
Trampled by Turtles, Cody Jinks, and TURNPIKE TRUBADOURS...together...in Idaho! Still pinching myself.
Hell of a band that puts on a great show with great music
I bought tickets to Turnpike Troubadours’ Bozeman, MT outdoor concert about 5 years ago but then the group split up so it was cancelled. They were finally close enough to my home again. I was so excited and bought two $220 tickets to see them in Boise. The Extra Mile arena was not only so disorganized but the “prime” seating was atrocious. Could hardly see the bands. After standing in line for 50 minutes to get a drink we decided to by the max 2 drinks per person but after reaching our seats realized they were folding chairs with no cupholders. We ended up holding a drink in each hand through the entire concert. Cody Jinks was an hour late which made the headliners performance rushed. No words thanking us for coming…no encore and let’s not forget the missing fiddler/ backup/ harmony. Wow. What a huge disappointment. A thousand dollar weekend and in hindsight I wouldn’t have spent $50 on it.
The acoustics suck in this building. It's made for sporting events
