Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue never disappoint!

by Teri Teti on 3/16/24Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

I am a loyal TSOA fan since 2010. Having lived in Germantown I have many friends in the area. I traveled from Philly to take my friend from Frederick to finally experience Trombone Shorty. Bonus was the Soul Rebels! The event staff were amazing. I work at the Phillies and have 20 plus years of event catering. I have been to the casino before but TSOA brought me back. Will keep an eye out for future shows. Thank you for bringing my New Orleans friends to the area. Peace TT

    Trombone Shorty never disappoints!

by MizArk14 on 3/5/24Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles Town

This was my second time seeing Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue - and I'm so glad we went! He and the band were AWESOME (as they were the first time I saw them in Baltimore a few years back.) His stage presence and ability to get the crowd on their feet is amazing! Plus, he decided to walk through the whole venue with his trombone and the sax player and that was so fun!!! Honestly, I could've listened to another hour of them play - they are absolutely great live! I would not recommend the VENUE again (Hollywood Casino at Charles Town), BUT given this was my only option that worked with my location and schedule, I decided to get tickets anyway because my love of Trombone Shorty is strong. The venue was pretty bad - the sound was not great initially - they got it sorted out (unfortunately after a Prince cover).

Trombone Shorty puts on the best show around. A perfect mix of New Orleans Jazz, '80s funk and extreme talent.

    Fantastic!

by Bern on 3/4/24Roxian Theatre - Pittsburgh

Never done a review before, even though I've been to a lot of concerts, mostly rock. But I had to after my Shorty experience. Seen Shorty once years ago in New Orleans by coincidence and really liked him, even if not a huge jazz person. So when he came to a smaller venue in Pittsburgh, we thought, why not? It was truly fantastic! The opening act was great and got the crowd up. Shorty and his band were mind-blowing. The various solos and duets, which included, brass, amazing guitar, percussion and keyboard made it clear how over-the-top talented every member of the band is. And we learned Shorty has a lot more musical talent than just his enthralling trombone skills. The floor was standing room only, and they did a New Orleans jazz parade right through the crowd. The crowd went nuts! The energy in the room was better than any concert I've ever attended. I'm still smiling and wondering when I can get to another of his shows.
