    Sassy

by Rockie on 12/11/19New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

The world premiere of "Sassy" was not well attended. Our seats were moved from the balcony that was closed to the side lodge just above orchestra. There was a 30 minute talk and then 1 hour performance. The opera was good but short. I enjoyed the music of Sarah Vaughan. I was disappointed that Newark did not show up and show out for their native daughter. NJPAC is located on the street that bares her name. The local jazz station did not promote this event. I will go to future Trilogy events.

    Unexpected disappointment

by Joereviewer89 on 3/21/18New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

There essential was not a set. The characters were reading lyrics from cards in hand and one even had a tablet. Lyrics were being provided from the side of the curtain. Perhaps I missed the announcement, but I was expecting a professional production and this was more like a High School musical.

    Absolutely not

by JoyousJ on 11/24/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

This opera was a complete waste of my time. They read their lines on stage. One person was behind the curtain yelling the lines to a singer on stage. We left during intermission. I want my money back. With respect to the venue, the acoustics in NJPAC are not the best. While music is loud enough you cannot hear anyone on stage. Hope they fix that one day.

    "ROBESON" was an artistic triumph!

by JHJ125 on 11/27/14New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

"Robeson: The Opera" was perhaps the most important and powerful performing arts event I have ever enjoyed at NJ PAC. As New Jerseyans celebrate our state's 350th Anniversary, the life of this great and heroic Renaissance Man was portrayed through unforgettable music, voices, orchestra, staging and the great bass voice of Kevin Maynor. New Jersey's noblest Black stateman was properly and joyfully honored!

    Robeson was very entertaining!

by shimfo on 11/26/14New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

The actors were very talented and had beautiful voices! NJPAC is a lovely venue. One complaint about the evening: our seats didn't exist! We were supposed to be center orchestra, third row. Apparently, NJPAC did not account for an orchestra pit and so those first few rows were removed to accommodate the orchestra pit. We had to wait off to the side for 10 minutes and then we were ushered to the box office with all the other patrons whose seats were missing. We were then given new tickets. Luckily, we were in our seats before the opera began.
