We were visiting from MN and bought tickets without knowing any of the artists. We were glad we did. The talent exceeded our expectations.
Bought tickets without knowing what the show was about (a fun thing I do) although it said “variety show.” I expected singing, dancing, maybe some stunts. Surprise! It was not that. Luckily for me and my hubby, we are Believers. Because the variety was music genres and singers, with a theme based loosely of God’s love, forgiveness and hope. The singing was amazing, the musicians outstanding, the script relatable. We were so glad to have attended.
To be fair, I left early, so there was much I didn't see. To be honest, I had to leave early because, even though there was some talent there, it seemed to be more of a leftist political statement than a fun show for the Christian Relief Fund. I won't waste my time next year.
Tokens always gives pleasure through superb musicians and vocalists. We laugh through hilarious dialogue that also provokes thought. Our hearts are deeply touched as we are challenged to be more aware and compassionate. We love Lee Camp and consider this evening at the Ryman worth driving 9 hours! It is entertainment for sure but also sooo much more.
The Thanksgiving Tokens Show was my first, and it did not disappoint. Over the course of the evening, I took in great music, was challenged by important topics facing our country and the world today, and laughed until it hurt. I highly recommend checking out a Tokens Show at some point in the future, and even becoming a repeat visitor.
We love Odessa Settles and this was our second show. We brought our friends too! The show was inspirational and the Ryman sounds great always!
We purchased tickets for a "Matt Maher at the Ryman" concert. Never did our event say it was a variety show and that Matt Maher would simply pop on and off stage throughout the evening. It was very disappointing. We made the best of it by finding things we could enjoy and we were introduced to Audrey Assad, which was a blessing! The 2-3 praise and worship songs Matt ended up singing blessed us as well.
This is not our first Tokens show which explains why we would drive 8 or 9 hours to be in the Ryman for the experience. The talent, the dialogue, the skits are well placed and amazingly performed. But there is another dimension that makes this extra special. The kinder and gentler and more loving way of life that is proclaimed left me more hopeful about our world. I can choose to live in what seems the ugly reality around us or decide to live out the Way to the stranger and alien and neighbor. Thank you, Lee Camp. p.s. Buy his books!
Lee Camp and crew presented another great show! He addresses controversial issues in a non-controversial manner, opening the minds and thoughts of others for consideration!
