TIMBALAND IN CONCERT:

Perhaps no other figure has had as significant an impact on the sound of contemporary pop as multi-talented rapper/producer Timbaland.  With production credits that read like a who's who of the last 25 years in music, Timbo has crafted some of the most unique and groundbreaking hits of the era — and his solo work is no exception. Following a special-guest-filled tour in support of 2009's Shock Value II, Timbaland joined Jay Z on his 2013/14 Magna Carta World Tour, adding to the already-feverish anticipation for his 2014 album Textbook Timbo.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I loved how he interacted with the audience and did both new and old songs."

"Timbaland was great and the light effects were awesome."

"Thanks to the musical genius of Timbo, this was an unparalleled concert experience as far as the sound and visual effects are concerned... he showed us his beat-making side, his creativity, his singing, his promoting, and his amazing ability to mix live instruments and beats and music from other artists."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Virginia, Timbaland took up DJing and beatmaking as a teen before teaming up with childhood pal Missy Elliott in 1996 to produce Aaliyah's double platinum sophomore album One In A Million. The duo quickly became one of the decade's most successful production/songwriting teams, with Timbaland assuming production duties on Elliott's 1997 debut Supa Dupa Fly — another platinum success. Timbo made his album debut a year later with  Tim's Bio: Life from da Bassment, a compilation of tracks featuring many of his recurring collaborators, including the on-record debut of a young Ludacris. His production work in the 2000s resulted in some of the decade’s biggest hits, resulting in 13 Grammy nominations and two wins — both for songs performed by Justin Timberlake. In 2007, TImbo reignited his solo career with Shock Value, topping charts around the world and earning him his first US No.1 with "Give it to Me."

Though the wait was long, it was worth it!!! I have loved Timbaland since The Basement days. His beats were incredible and he entertained for a very long time. He also showed much love to his audience. I love this genius and cannot wait to hear and see what he drops next. Thanks for a most memorable eve @ the H.O.B.

    Timbaland

I was expecting better beats than the ones he played. He was weak!!! Plus, he made us wait forever, even after his band was set up.....

The concert was great and the sound was excellent, but they didn't even open the doors until 30 minutes after the time stated. So the concert didn't really start for over an hour after. Plus there really should have been more than 10 tables for a venue of that size.

The opening band was great, but TImbaland's performance was off the hook. He's a great live entertainer. Since the venue was small, we were able to get really close to the stage. With all the special effects, it was definitely worth the cost and the drive. Only complaint: the doors didn't open on time.

    Timbaland should stick to producing!

by concertlover224 on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

The stage set-up was awesome, and I give him credit for making amazing beats, but he's just NOT meant to perform... He's a producer. He was pretty awful.

I have seen Timbaland before and this concert just did not compare. It was awesome when he was performing his songs, but the 30 minute breaks within songs to talk about drinking and woman got a little too excessive. I hate to say this, but seeing Timbaland live in this tour made me lose a little respect for him.

    Great Concert, Awesome Effects

by TashaPC on 1/20/10House of Blues Boston - Boston

I previously posted about how some of the people in my area were not hyped up for the event and how I felt Boston could have shown Timbo that we like to have a good time better than we did. However, I failed to describe in detail why this was such an amazing concert. Timbo gave us a little bit of everything. For one, I love that he is promoting other artists and helping them in their career. Obviously Petey Pablo has fallen of our radar, but everyone who listens to hip hop/rap remembers Raise Up and if you really think about it, you'll remember he also did Freek-a-Leek and Vibrate. Well Petey Pablo is coming out with a new album and Timbo gave him a chance to come back into the spotlight. I respect that. He also promoted the New England band The Honor Society, which I hadn't previously heard of, but they seem pretty chill. Not to mention his brother, Sebastian who definitely did his thing. I purchased one of his bags (had a t-shirt, posters, shorts, a pen etc) because he was cool. Well if you know Timbo, you know him as a singer, but you also really know him as a producer. When I picked up the latest album, Shock Value II, and heard he was coming on tour to Boston, I wondered what his show would be like...especially since he features so many other artists singing on his tracks. How was he going to perform those songs? Well Timbo delivered and then some. He cleverly let us hear a live band, see his talent as a producer and beat maker through cool visual effects and sound, and he worked the stage by singing his songs accompanied by a visual display of the featured artist singing their portion of the song on a large screen. Thanks to the musical genius of Timbo, this was an unparelled concert experience as far as the sound and visual effects are concerned along with everything Timbo did - again he showed us his beat-making side, his creativity, his singing, his promoting, his amazing ability to mix live instruments and beats and music from other artists...I could go on and on. Now, the several people around me who weren't there for Timbaland even though it was a Timbaland show (*scratches head perplexed*), well that's another story. I hope he adds more concert dates to his tour in the New England area so I can see him again (hopefully surrounded by people who don't suck this time)!

Solid show. I was under the impression that jaysean was going to be there when i bought the tickets but he wasnt :-(. Sebatian(timberlands new artist/brother) was entertaining he had petey pablo come out which was awesome. Honor society's set was fun, good energy. Timberlands band was amazing the guy on the drums was crazy with it so was the guitarist. Graphics were cool. over good concert had fun although it was lengthy 8-1130.
