    Great Performer

by Mulligan on 1/17/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

We have been fans of Tierney Sutton since we first saw her over ten years ago. We suggested that Jimmy's book her and they did (although Covid delayed her performance for quite some time)... Tierney is one of the great contemporary female jazz vocalists. She keeps inventing new styles (like redoing Joni Mitchell hits). Her performance last week at Jimmy's (with guitar and piano accompaniment) really fit the night and the vibe at Jimmy's. We hope that she returns!!!

    Great evening

by Richard on 1/17/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

This was my first introduction to Tierney Sutton. She displayed exquisite vocalizing and emotional depth rarely experienced. Just a terrific concert! I will be sure to attend future performances to see her whenever I can!

    Too short

by jazzgrae on 3/17/15Tilles Center - Hillwood Recital Hall - Brookville

Tierney Sutton, Serge Merlaud and Mark Summer were brilliant. However, they performed for just over an hour, so considering the price of tickets and a 1-1/2 hour drive through heavy rain, it just simply didn't feel worth it. My friends and I left wondering why there were 2 performances (one at 7:30 and the other at 9:30), instead of one combined (longer) performance in a larger theater? I have been to other Tierney Sutton concerts in other venues. So, bottom line, I would not choose to see her at Tilles Center in the future.

May the Schwartz NOT be with you

by Lance56 on 12/7/10Tilles Center - Hillwood Recital Hall - Greenvale

If you have never been to an event at the Tilles Center's smaller recital hall, you are missing out. This is a great venue to listen to the wonderful sounds of performers like Tierney Sutton and her talented band. They were terrific. If only Jonathan stayed home, we could have heard Tierney perform more songs and not have had to suffer through a terminal array of boring, self-promoting stories of his wonderful life. With the show being only one and a half hours, there was no time to spare. Okay, I'll grant you Jonathan Schwartz has been a terrific booster for Tierney Sutton. So be gracious and just let her sing. Great voice. Great Music. Too short.

Tierney has an excellent voice but too much talk

by greekhoney on 12/6/10Tilles Center - Hillwood Recital Hall - Greenvale

Tierney's band was definitely on tune but not enough of her beautiful voice was heard. Jonathan hammed her up but what we heard was a disappointment. We took friends for their birthday, and they felt the same. She shows very good stage performance and we have heard her on the radio so we expected more. She didn't seem to exert herself and before we knew it, the show was over. Would not go to see her again.

Tierney Sutton and her band were extremely talented and creative. Having Jonathan Schwartz as moderator was an exciting addition to the show. We also enjoyed the small venue in the Hillwood Commons at C.W. Post.

    Sutton

by 55bb12 on 12/6/10Tilles Center - Hillwood Recital Hall - Greenvale

Well I was impressed with her voice and how she and the trio took these standards and made them them their own, it wasn't for me. I am more of a melodic listener, so waiting to hear the melodic chord / melody is annoying. Christian Jacob, the pianist was superb. He should put out his own CD. Christian is married to Maynard Ferguson's daughter. For a while he used to play in the MF band. So if you like Miles Davis, and don't mind waiting for "DO" you will like her.
