Loved it! Spirit Hall was a good venue with their art exhibit light show.

One of the best performances I have been to in a long time. I highly recommend seeing them live if you haven’t already.

    This Will Destroy You

    by Trip1893 on 11/7/14Masquerade - Atlanta

The two opening "bands" were pretty lame, couldn't tell if it was because they just sucked or if the sound quality was just bad, but neither of the first two bands were good at all. The main band was very good though, and I enjoyed listening to them a lot! The only other comments I would make would be that it was a little cold in Hell and the lighting wasn't great to take pictures of the band, but that's just minor stuff.

    A Mesmerizing Show

by BlockA on 11/7/14Masquerade - Atlanta

The intimate setting of The Masquerade's Hell in combination with the overall atmosphere of This Will Destroy You's music provided for a truly mesmerizing experience. The way I look at it, post-rock shows can go either way, but TWDY has a special way of keeping their audience transfixed and entertained. The polished sound that they emanate, the overall "togetherness" they have during their performance as well as the passion that they have for their music (they got very "into it") are all factors that made this show a great one. There were some brief minor technical difficulties during the show, but they handled it very professionally. I hope this band continues to experience growing success. 5 stars. Don't miss this band.

    A Mixed Bag

by Anonymous on 11/6/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

About seven years ago I had the pleasure of seeing This Will Destroy You's fellow Texas-based Post-Rock act Explosions In the Sky for the first time. Since then, I've explored instrumental/Post-Rock rock in greater depth, including but not limited to similar acts like Sigur Ros, Caspian, Pray For Sound, Lavinia, Mono, and Godspeed! You Black Emperor. When I first arrived at the show, a man was playing distorted violin solo and looping over it. It was not far removed from Godspeed! You Black Emperor's performance when they opened for Nine Inch Nails on their most recent visit to the TD Garden. It's not uncommon for songs in this style of music to last for 10 minutes or more, but with minimal variation I have no problems telling you that it went from atmospheric to needlessly indulgent after more than 15 minutes. Not something I would leave my house to go see, but I've waited through worse. The other opener, a band called Future Death, ranks amongst bands like Danko Jones as one of, if not the, worst opening acts I've seen. For 40 minutes they did their best attempt to marry the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Joan Jett. I stood in front of the soundboard and the vocals were completely buried. The battered drumset looked like it was purchased that afternoon off Craigslist, complete with broken cymbals. It looked, sounded like, and was performed with the same level of professionalism and competence as a high school garage band. I am not wholly biased against opening acts. When I saw Caspian, I was pleasantly surprised by the opener Junius and became a fan. I learned about Explosions In the Sky through their own support of a national act. But Future Death is not worth your time or your money. If they open another concert I go to I will make certain I arrive late. Once This Will Destroy You took the stage, their set was much more professional than Future Death's. At one point someone shouted out a request, and similar to how I heard Explosions In the Sky explain that they don't do encores, This Will Destroy You explained that they rehearse their set as-is and I can respect that. Measured against their contemporaries, they are a slightly below Explosions In the Sky (albeit more electronic) and on this particular night were nowhere near as good as Caspian or Junius.

This Will Destroy You was perfect as usual, but the event itself was hardly satisfying. The performance started at 9pm instead of 8 (as what was written on the tickets), and TWDY played at 11. We could have saved a lot of time and efforts rushing to the venue if we knew there were two other bands playing in advance. Most of the audience were great, but a group of people near the bar talked and laughed constantly, and a bunch of idiots right in front of the stage, who clearly didn't care about the band, kept shouting, pushing and even shoving people throughout the show. Such an annoying distraction - Bowery Ballroom should do something to prevent this from happening again.

    Great way to Celebrate Halloween

by SpiralTool on 11/3/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

Very well performed show. Band was very professional and on point. The entire band wore "Wayne's World" Hats and Wayne Wigs to go with for the whole show to celebrate Halloween. Strongly recommend seeing this band live if you're a Post Rock / Prog Rock Fan.

    This DID Destroy You.

by MrAngles on 11/1/14Tralf - Buffalo

This band sounds amazing on their records, and the music truly translated into their live performance. The walls of sound they created with only four people were both impressive and moving. The venue was gorgeous, and the crowd was small yet respectful and into it. The only criticism I may have is that sometimes, the drums were a little too high in the mix, but even that was not a constant problem.
