THEE OH SEES IN CONCERT:

San Francisco psych rock outfit Thee Oh Sees has been blowing minds with their kaleidoscopic sound and freaky-fun performances since their formation in 1997. At their live shows the band's '60s-inspired guitar riffs, swirling vocals, and charging drums make for a truly transformative experience, treating concertgoers to a psychedelic blast from the past without any need for a time machine. Whether they're rocking out to the infectiously catchy "Robber Barons" or reveling in the fuzzed-out bliss of "Toe Cutter - Thumb Buster", Thee Oh Sees always treat fans to an electric and unforgettable concert experience of hallucinatory proportions.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Thee Oh Sees first took shape in 1997 as the experimental home recording project of San Francisco-based songwriter John Dwyer. Working solo under the moniker Orinoka Crash Suite, Dwyer appeared on several compilations before releasing three full-length albums -- simply titled 1, 2, and 3 -- in the early '00s. Around the middle of the decade the project evolved from Dwyers solo outlet to a full-fledged band as percussionist Patrick Mullins and vocalist/keyboardist Brigid Dawson joined the fray. The trio renamed themselves The Oh Sees and made their debut in 2006 with the album Cool Death of Island Raiders. They followed up in 2007 with Sucks Blood, which boasted a more garage rock-influenced sound thanks to the addition of bassist Petey Dammit. After adding an "e" to their name the quartet made their debut as Thee Oh Sees in 2008 with the album The Master's Bedroom Is Worth Spending a Night In, a critically acclaimed release that showcased an increasingly psychedelic sound and ushered in a period of intense creativity for the band. The ever-prolific group released seven albums over the next five years including 2014's Drop, another critically acclaimed slice of psychedelia that the band supported with a string of US tour dates. Electrifying performers with an eccentric sound, Thee Oh Sees continue to conjure up the consciousness-expanding sounds of musical eras past on their unforgettable tours.

    OCS at Brooklyn Made

by Tempi on 12/20/22Brooklyn Made - Brooklyn

Quaint venue. Super fun for a live show. Sound seemed a little off for the opening band Tea Eater, who were great though. The oh sees/OCS kill every time they play. You get an hour and a half of face stabbing electric mayhem from john with a double portion of percussion from Dan and Paul and just the right amount of fat bass lines by Tim with Tomas filling in w keys nicely. If you haven’t been to an OCS show, go and go both nights because you’ll be upset you didn’t go to them both.

The ohsees give it their all on stage. It is clear that they are a band with a long trajectory and they show it by acting. The place is fine, the sound is good.

John and the boys delivered a blistering performance! Hands down the best live psychedelic punk band there is.

    Thee Oh Sees were decent.

Firstly after getting used to seeing calmer shows I was not prepared for the crowd at this show. There was A LOT of moshing, which I didn't love. I spent most of the time sitting in the bar while my boyfriend stayed in the front row. The opening band was alright, the second band was spectacular The Dreemers from Akron Ohio, finally when Thee Oh Sees came on the crowd went crazy, they were really great and carried a lot of energy.

One of the best live bands!

by Stepf on 8/15/16Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

I have been listening to Thee Oh Sees for a few years, but I knew I had to see them live after watching a concert in France in its entirety on Youtube. They blew the hinges off the doors in that show, and I felt it sitting on my couch. I was not disappointed by this show. It was one of the best small shows I've ever been to, and the Teragram Ballroom has become my favorite venue for small shows. Good stuff all around.

Solid show. . .played nothing but the hits. They kept the place roaring like an inferno once they were lit up with the first song.
