Not quite the cross-over I expected

    by Drewski22 on 4/30/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

I enjoy a good play -- and this play was average. The highlights were the players. Most performed very well and if that is what you are going to see, I recommend this show. I however was not going to see how the troop performed, I was going to see how a great movie was translated to the stage. To explain my disappointment, let me talk about an adaptation I did like. I was expecting Spam-a-lot, the adaptation of the movie "Monte Python and the Holy Grail." The play Spam-a-lot was awesome in and of itself. Having seen the movie over and over I was expecting to see it performed on stage. It was not. Each scene had elements of the movie in it, but it was adapted for a live audience. It even had some modern-day punchlines. Very entertaining. Back to Wedding Singer. Too many times this play relied on the writing of the movie. The jokes, the dialog, etc. were sometimes verbatim. That was less than entertaining as Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler had the benefit of multiple retakes and our actors did not. The saving grace was the final scene. The "plane ride" and the Vegas scene was AWESOME. Frankly, had the rest of the play been like that I would have given it 5 stars. That scene nearly made the whole play!

    Left at Intermission

by Mincer on 4/6/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

This was the worst Broadway event ever! The acting and dancing were amateurish, the music was too loud and drowned out the singers. Wicked was superior, but this production was terrible, we had enough by intermission.

The Wedding Singer was fun and energetic

    by Jimisthe1 on 4/5/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

I took in this musical for my wife, I knew she would enjoy it and when she is happy I am happy. But much to my surprise I had a great time too. The Wedding Singer was full of energy and good laughs. I was tired when I went in and awake when I left. Fun Fun Fun

fun stuff but rather watch the movie

by richgals on 4/3/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

After seeing Wicked recently this pales in comparison but it was an acceptable show especially since the ticket price was much cheaper. I guess you could say we got what we paid for. The music and dance numbers were lively but there were some jokes that were rather tacky. I like the movie version of this story much better but it was a fun night out with my daughter.

The Weddingsinger was a lot of fun!

by Deutschy on 4/2/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

I enjoyed it very much, the singers and dancers were great! What surprised me the most: It was exactly like the movie, and the ending was even better!! I loved the character of Linda!!!

    Lots of Dancin

by Vacanastaplayer on 4/2/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

This play had a good story, lots of dancing and singing. It was funny and was very relaxing just to be there watching all the fun on stage.

I want a divorce from the Wedding Singer

    by broadwaygal61 on 4/2/10Landmark Theater - Richmond

I was so looking forward to seeing this play for months. Saw the movie and of course loved that. I was expecting so much more from it. The acting was overdone, the singing was mediocre. I left at intermission. I was so disappointed. The unfortunate thing in all of this is that I had just seen "Wicked" 2 weeks ago at the same theater and was enthralled with it all and I guess anything that I see will pale in comparison.
