the Upwelling really brings it!
by sevy on 12/9/10Mercury Lounge - New YorkThe Upwelling, a band from Queens that is loved by other musicians and garnered critical praise, played a set @ the Mercury Lounge. They bring a unique sound and really rock it. Guitarist/Vocalist Ari and Bassist Mike Bounced their energy back and forth hitting the strings hard and giving it that body language. Ari's voice is low and smokey-smooth. Drummer Josh was kicking it- I could feel the percussion just right. Newcomer keyboardist Brian is a good addition. While still a relative insider secret in the US, this year they have toured twice in Europe. They also have been out with Third Eye Blind and All American Rejects- who liked them so well they signed them to the bands lable, Edmond Records. They were also really great this summer at the Bowery Ballroom show. Go see them!
