Great Beach Fossils and Great Soft Pack

by thequincy on 9/13/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

The Bowery Ballroom is a really nice location in NYC. The wooden floor ensures both great acoustic and a great atmosphere. There are also balconys where you can sit if you are lazy :) The Soft Pack were really good, also the 2nd opening act Beach Fossils. I do not know the name of the first band anymore, they were quite okay...

The Soft Pack leaves much to be desired

by CoolArrow on 4/28/10Mercury Lounge - New York

The band played with a fair amount of energy, although I thought the lead singer might have been a little too drunk during the last song. He was slurring his words and mumbling. I guess that's what you get when you've got a late show. At least with the early shows the band is not hammered, usually.

    Bueller? Bueller?

by heaversm on 4/4/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

It's always the most unassuming guy in the band who livens it up the most. In this case, it was lead guitarist Matty McLoughlin, a Cameron Frye foil who outshone the stoic and bored Matt Lamkin (vocals). If only you could get some energy out of Lamkin, you'd have a pretty lively show. As it was, the sound was great, but the stage performance fell just short of expectations.

Got introduced to this band through an article written in Metro. Checked em out & dug 'em. Found out they were coming to NY shortly after for $15 and bought a ticket. By the time of the show i knew a bunch of songs but didnt know howd they'd be live, and they were really great!!
