The Shaughraun Gets It
by BlueRed on 3/2/10USF Theatre 1 - TampaThis is a unique play for a modern theater company to perform. The simplicity of the set (a large cow) is the centerpiece throughout. It is variously a house, jail, and hill among many other uses--even as a cow. There are a few props that are used in addition, but they are more customary. The acting is a bit hammish at times, but that adds to the comedy. The Irish accents are humorous because they are generally so badly done. However, the timing of the lines is exquisite. In the second act there is a dance line that does a jig in the middle of the act. They are scorned by the actors as the audience applauds heartily. The story is not deep. It's not Shakespeare. It isn't even Moliere, but it's good. It's fun.
