My husband and I brought my parents to see the show. We had no idea the show would not be in the theater. We sat on small, rickety chairs that were so uncomfortable some people had to get up and stand to the side during the show. The uncomfortable chairs proved to be a large inhibitor to us becoming engrossed in the story. We found the actor’s comedic timing a bit off and we had trouble connecting to him. Every time he sat on the small box, we couldn’t see him, and that made us fade from the storyline. We had much higher expectations for the venue and for the performance.
Expensive to sit not inside theatre. Show was not funny and did not captivate me.
Not funny, walk out 1/2 way, seating was very tight.
This was the absolute Best Christmas Play I have ever seen. Christmas will never be the same again without see this over and over....
This was the fourth time I've seen Santaland Diaries. The show is typical David Sedaris-hysterical and Jonathan Putnam is incredibly funny and talented. Very well done! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves to laugh - a lot.
This show was not at all what we expected. I've read David Sedaris' books and enjoyed them and knowing his background with SNL, thought this would be a fun outing - it was not entertaining at all. The man who acted it out was an older gentleman, and his delivery did not do the work justice. Some of the jokes were also in poor taste - and I am a person who loves comedy when it's done right and I hardly ever get offended. Overall, it was a waste of time and money.
A funny holiday tale in an intimate setting. We really enjoyed it!
This rendition of David Sedaris' Santaland Diaries was in the spirit of the story and next best to having Sedaris perform. The acting was full of expression and movement. The lighting was excellent, especially in the Satan scene. We loved the smaller theater setting. Go next year!
I recently saw the one man production of David Sedaris', "The Santaland Diaries" and thought the show was quite well done. The actor was extremely expressive, kept the audience engaged and did a nice job of keeping the storyline even to what Sedaris had in his essay. A delightful & funny holiday show in an intimate theater. Well done!
