Awesome show! Great song selection by Keillor, and beautiful playing by the Chamber Orchestra, I hope that they get together for more shows at the Fitz in the near future.

Keillor and SPCO - Wonderful blend

by Anonymous on 2/1/11Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

The mix of Garrison Keillor and SPCO made for a wonderful evening of entertainment. Even our 2 teenaged sons enjoyed themselves! Not an easy feat! So glad we went.

GK with the SPCO was wonderful!

A night to remember! A wonderful performance. We've been GK fans for many years, but this performance stands out. Moving, insightful . . . Difficult to find words . . .

    Garrison Keillor with the SPCO

We had a very enjoyable time. Garrison Keillor is brilliant. He encourages one's imagination to stretch and one's sense of humor to expand. Excellent!

Fabuluous weaving of beautiful music and "my life" commentary.

    Garrison Keillor was great

by Anonymous on 1/28/11Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

This was an evening of nostalgia. Sometimes almost tearful, and at times full of laughter. Keillor knows just how to hit the balance between memories that can become touching to the heart, and those that recall the funny craziness that makes a particular area unique. He was able to carry off a pretty much "one-man" show, and do it well. The St. Paul Chamber Orchestra was, as always, wonderful and made even the simplest of tunes, and silliest of songs, sound beautiful.

The "Man in the Red Shoes" in a somber mood

by AlsoSomber on 1/27/11Fitzgerald Theater - St Paul

There's no denying the warmth and comfort of Garrison Keillor's baritone voice. The SPCO is a national treasure. Put them together and you are in for an interesting evening right? I have to admit that I hadn't a clue what that might mean. The show had all of the expected charm: the friendly interaction between the participants; the inevitable, almost casual, disorganization (or is it clever organization that seems disorganized. I can't figure it out). The surprizing thing for me was the actual program material. While performed and delivered exactly as I would expect the overall theme was dark. The offsetting humour just seemed to make it more so. The star rating system really doesn't fit here: The performances were great; the program was a little grim. I would recommend it to friends but only to a select few.
