    The Stepsisters Were Hilarious!

by Wishful1 on 3/12/13Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

I loved this play. All of the characters were very intriguing. I especially loved the stepsisters in the play. They kept me entertained from beginning to end. Their rendition of "Can't go to the ball" had me in stitches. The ball was "happening"! Definitely a party I would like to attend. I also loved the page! He was so cool! In addition the costumes were awesome. I especially loved the fact that Cinderella was not forced to wear a long drab gown. The music was also cool and had some touches of modern styled music. The play did not get stale. They even came into the audience and interacted with the audience. If you want to be entertained in a theatrical atmosphere, you must definitely go see this play when it returns.

    Always a twist....

by Biggechief on 1/10/13Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

This play differently was a twist for me, I thought it was to be about someone winning the lottery and living like Kings and Queens; wearing the name brands shoes. I loved it and it was my very first time at the Black Ensemble... I love that they had a sign language lady who was really into the story telling of the play! I loved her as well and I do not even know sign language! Amazing, I found myself looking at her emotion through sign and it was amazing!

    Just Okay

by Dorethaday on 1/1/13Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

I have been attending performances at BET for several years now, but had never seen its *trademark* play, The Other Cinderella, an updated version of the classic. The music, though contemporary, was not memorable, the performances lacked any star quality, the band, however was amazing. It was a decent play, though I would not recommend it to anyone.

    Awesome Play experience

by TherapistChick on 12/31/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

I took my 15 year old daughter to see this play and she enjoyed it! She immediately asked to see another production at the theatre. The theme was relatable for all ages. Will definitely recommend the play to friends and co-workers.

    Two Thumbs up to B.E.T.

by RYork on 12/21/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

The new theater looks great, the staff was great, and the performance was amazing. Most definitely some up and coming actors and actresses are blessing that stage.

    The other Cinderella

by Anonymous on 12/11/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

Needed a memorable song/jingle. Cinderella was not a very simpathatic character. ballroom needed more dancersor a holiday play it lacked any decorations or references to this special time of year. I enjoyed the page, the wrap and reference to facebook and the symbolism of the hoodies. the addition of the dorothy character was unexpectedly fun. The Fairy Godmother's portrayal was enjoyable as was the lady and gentleman in waiting. I did not get the relevance of light/dark skin references.
