    A Stunning Opening Gala

by AnyaPetrova on 5/29/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

An eclectic selection of pieces, ranging from Old Man River to Wagner, with Dolora Zajick stealing the show. Hands down, the highest quality opera performance San Antonio has seen in the 10 years I've lived here. Brava!

    Amazing Concert!

by Anaelle on 5/28/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

It is wonderful to have in San Antonio a cultural event of this quality and magnitude. I am thrilled with the perspective of having an opera season in our city for the enjoyment of young and old alike.

    FANTASTIC!

by italywoman on 5/26/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Real opera in San Antonio! I have seen opera in Italy (and San Francisco) and this was the first time I felt that it was equal to the quality I saw in Italy.

Opera San Antonio Opening Gala Concert of Stars

by MissTheMet on 5/25/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

It was a rare treat seeing these top opera stars in San Antonio. The only disappointment was the amount of empty seats. I hope the audience for opera will grow in this city to able to support the company in 2015.

This wass an amazing performance. Myonly complaint, being a traditional opera lover, is there was to much modern American arias, and lacked some of the more standard that would have tempted people who are not familiar with opera to want to start going. For example Rigolleto, La Traviata, La Boheme or Carmen, with so many well-known arias would, I believe, have increased their interest

    Entertaining gala

by KenTTx on 5/25/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

TOSA's kickoff gala had some powerhouse stars and great singing. Programming was a bit of a mishmash but who cares with the likes of Patricia Racette, Dolora Zajick, Eric Owens, and Jay Hunter Morris on hand? The generous concert featured no less than twenty arias and ensembles, in the beautiful Majestic Theatre. Enjoyable evening.

    shockingly good

by cavermike23 on 5/25/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

8 incredible voices singing some of the best parts of the best operas. Even some newer pieces that Im not familiar with. Jay Hunter Morris doing Wagner made my hair stand on end! If Madame Butterfly doesn't make you cry then you don't have a soul! My mind was thoroughly blown by the whole event. Who needs microphones when you have voices like these people! Please try to get a whole Wagner opera in the future, maybe parsifal, and try to do better marketing. There were way too many empty seats at this event. I think that Opera would appeal to people like me who like all kinds of music. Cast a wider marketing net. Have classes leading up to the big opera events so that younger people can get some background on what they are about to see. Give student discounts.

Only thing missing was more peple in the audience!

by DavidinSanAntonio on 5/25/13Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

History was made with 8 opera singers in one event ~ amazing arias and "live" singing is a whole different experience from "Live in HD" ~ and two of the artists are on the international advisory board of our new TOSA ~
