Broadway Bound made an enjoyable night!

by JayJayBee on 8/3/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

Lovely period piece showing a slice of life in 1949. Even though there was a sad family event, there were many funny threads running throught the play. The cast made you feel like you were simply watching the daily events of a real family. Neil Simon has always captured reality and added his wonderful brand of humor! Kudos!

    Amazing cast! Brilliant play.

by tcmb on 8/2/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

This play shined from start to finish. The acting was so enjoyable and believable. Full of life lessons and family realities. There was something for everyone. Eugene kept the audience clued in to the underlying story with his asides that were seamlessly interwoven with the cast's dialogue. Kate was perfection as the woman of strength, honor, and understanding amongst a group of head strong men. The ethnicity was delightful! They all meshed just like a real family and entertained throughout the production. And what a set! It was a perfect home and authentically reproduced for its time. A great theatre and a great play.

    Broadway Bound was Phenominal!!!!

by SteveCarenB on 7/26/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

A provocative comedy that also expresses the pathos of our daily lives as well. We all can relate to the message expressed by the wonderful actors in this personal signature Neil Simon production in more ways than just his name. Highly recommend for all to see as we all appear in this play somewhere. Not to be missed. All actors were phenominal and the acting and set and dialogue were suberb. Very applicable to all of us. Comedy with a message.

    Very disappointing

by dbchgo on 7/26/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

This performance was very disappointing. The performances were lack luster. The two main performers were so soft spoken you could not hear them. We left at intermission. I would not recommend this show.

    Broadway Bound to ring true!

by Madregrande on 7/26/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

It was a simpler time, or so we think. Life was just as complicated back in 1949 for all the same reasons it is today. Family is our great blessing, and sometimes, our greatest source of comedy. Every family member reacts differently to the same situation. But it's the laughter that gets us through it. There was also a great unplanned moment when Jason Karasev tripped going up the stairs. The audience gasped. In the next scene, he ran up the stairs and declared "Hey, they fixed the carpet!" He brought down the house!

The show was wonderful. It really made you feel for the characters and what they were going through. Lots of laughs mixed in with the serious life situations that were taking place made for a great balance. The dinner before the show was wonderful. The environment was beautiful and the staff was great.

    Broadway Bound is too heavy

by EFam7 on 7/18/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The acting was excellent, but the subject matter was too somber and intense. I was going for a light hearted funny evening and that is not what I got. This play is anything but light hearted. There are a few funny scenes, but they are even overshadowed by the heaviness of the subject matter. Just be prepared; if that is what you are looking for than you will really like this play

    Broadway Bound was wonderful

by PDaly on 7/6/11Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The acting was really top-notch, especially Mr. Polski and Mr. Karasev, the two young men who play the brothers. Ms. Roman, who plays the mother was fabulous as well. The set was extremely well-done. A wonderful, professional production. A great evening.
