The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

    Disappointing performance

by Tree on 3/21/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

The venue is great, I’ve attended several performances at The Parker. There’s not a bad seat in the house parking is free and easy, bathrooms are nice and employees are all very friendly and helpful. BUT for this performance the acoustics were terrible. Marshall Tucker has some great songs, that their fans know and love and they easily could’ve played all of their 5 or 6 biggest hits. Unfortunately they chose to use up time playing these excessively long instrumentals extensions of a few songs. They did not play Searching for a Rainbow or Fire on the Mountain. The opening band Georgia Thunderbolts was terrible, I’ve heard much better bar bands. Again the poor acoustics for this evening didn’t help.

    Terrible Garage Band

by Diamond Girl on 3/21/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Don't waste your money on the Marshall Tucker Band. They sounded like a garage band, one long terrible jam session, 2 sing a longs, maybe 3 full songs. The sound at the Parker was bad, what happened to sound checks? The only bright spot was the Georgia Thunderbolts, one hell of a band.

    MTB

by Lori on 3/21/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

I LOVED it! The band sounded great (even after 50 years), and I love the venue. The Parker is a very intimate setting and makes for a great concert experience. My boyfriend thought the music was a bit loud. They probably could have turned the vocals down a little. Drinks were VERY expensive; $32 for a double vodka and a bottle of water.

    No lead vocalist

by fan on 3/21/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

The band is great musically and the keyboard, flute, sax player's vocals were great. They had no lead vocalist to speak of because of the Key West concert. That was disappointing and there was no encore.

    Disappointed

by Rick Fort Lauderdale on 3/20/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

The only original member left is Doug Gray who seems tired; after all he is 75 years old. He only sang on a couple of songs and would talk and then leave the stage. He is surrounded by some talented musicians who played well, and also helped sing. I was not happy with the playlist as they only played maybe four of their own songs. The jams and instrumentals were too long as it almost seemed like they were filling up their stage time. To be fair I had seen them many times in the past when Toy was alive, and Doug and the Band were great. This was my last Marshall Tucker Band show, as I will not go to see them again. I want to keep what memories I can recall of the shows three decades plus ago burned into my brain.

    The Mashall Tucker Band

by DJK219 on 3/20/24Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Opening act sucked, play too long. The sound was the worst I ever heard at a Parker Playhouse. It was terrible It was almost like going to a Bob Dylan concert. Couldn't understand a word they were saying. I've seen over 100 shows of Parker Playhouse. This is the worst. And a waste the money and time. Sunday night concerts on a school night, not worth it.

    Disappointing

by A longtime fan on 3/18/24

I’ve been a big fan for many years. Concert was disappointing. Do a sound check!!! It was extremely loud to the point of being painful. Unable to enjoy the music. Band members didn’t sing…they screamed. Not enough variety of songs. Spent too much time playing jam music.
