A Magnificent Tribute to a Magnificent Bridge.

by Nocheese on 6/12/12Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

I'm so glad I saw and heard this new work. It was eloquent and atmospheric, incredibly moving. The preliminary talk by the composer, abetted by the sound effects guy, was most illuminating, and what followed was unforgettable. I've been talking about it ever since. I'm not sure about how well the Beethoven fitted into the evening. After such a fresh new piece of work, it seemed a bit safe and over-familiar.

    Marin Symphony was tremendous!

by CultureDude on 10/7/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

Took my wife, a Tchaikovsky enthusiast, to the symphony for her birthday. Neither of us had ever been, and we were both blown away! What a great experience. Absolutely beautiful!

    Completely Beautiful

by Mirandom on 10/6/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

This was completely better than I thought. It was my first symphony, and it was absolutely amazing. I was sad because it seemed to go by so fast. I wanted to hear more! They chose great songs to perform. A must see.

    First Fusion

by JohnnyAFrame on 5/10/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

I think that what Bob Weir is doing right now is creative and honorable. He is taking the music of the Grateful Dead to a whole new level. Fulfilling the dream if you will. The Marin Symphony Orchestra was fun to watch and seemed to be quite familiar with the music AND the crowd. The crowd was incredibly enthusiastic and most certainly gave the Marin Symphony Orchestra their best reception yet! And of course the venue, is and always will be, an incredible site for presenting quality, artistic endeavors. Thank you Mr. Weir for being an explorer, scholar, family man (your daughters look to be amazing) and continuing to journey down that old familiar road. Take it on the road you legend you! NYC will LOVE it! Much love to you sir!

    bob weir and marin symphony

by billwel on 5/10/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

a great show from beginning to end. I don't know how it could be improved. Weir and Aqualanti did a wonderful job of arranging the music. I've always been a Dead fan and also Furthur and the other bands they have had. This was a great treat.

One of the most amazing shows I've ever seen!

by Nico17 on 5/10/11Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium At Marin Center - San Rafael

This show was brilliant, from the opening notes to the closing 3rd encore song in which Bobby sang with the choir, no instruments - outstanding! The play back and forth between Bobby and the various symphony members was so fun to watch, and I loved this new interpretation of classic Dead songs. Days Between was especially moving, from the strings in the opening to the horns coming in later on...just a beautiful rendition. This is truly one of the best concerts I've ever been to, by any performer. Let's hope Bobby makes a habit out of this!
