About

THE KNOCKS IN CONCERT:

Nu-disco production duo The Knocks combine retro synths and vintage beats with a modern pop sensibility to arrive at a sound that is both classic and cutting-edge. Their 2014 single "Classic" bears all the markings of a Studio 54-era smash, but the contributions of featured vocalist Powers give the song a decidedly contemporary feel.  At their live shows the pair fleshes out thumping tracks like "Dancing with the DJ" and "Modern Hearts" with a drummer and backup dancers, making for an electric concert experience that always gets fans moving and shaking. The Knocks have toured with Ellie Goulding and shared the stage with superstars like Calvin Harris and Tiesto, and they put that valuable experience to work every time they deliver their dance-worthy sets on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Knocks is comprised of Ben "B-Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson, two New York-based producers who met while attending The New School University in Greenwich Village. After becoming roommates they began collaborating on tracks, and before long their remixes of hits by artists like Lady Gaga and Rihanna earned them a publishing deal. As buzz around the project mounted they began producing tracks of their own, and in 2010 they broke through with the single "Dancing with the DJ". The song shot to No. 1 on Hype Machine and topped Japan's Electronic Songs Chart, introducing them to a global audience and leading to a deal with A&M Records. They made their debut on the label in 2011 with the Magic EP, a glittering collection of nu-disco tracks that drew them out for extensive touring. They continued to make waves in 2013 with hugely popular cuts like "Modern Hearts" and "Geronimo", a collaboration with revered French house producer Fred Falke. In 2014 B-Roc and JPatt released the Comfortable EP, another stellar slice of retro-futuristic jams that has fans chomping at the bit to catch them on tour.

Decent show, did not like the venue

by AltMartha on 10/18/22Big Night Live - Boston

The show itself was good, although I preferred the opening band, Cannons. Big Night is unfortunately not a good place to see a show. You can see literally nothing from the upper floor. The lower floor is sunken and causes one to feel claustrophobic. I was only able to tolerate that feeling for about half the performance before leaving the floor altogether. I would see this band again, but not at Big Night.

Sneaky cool becomes straight up cool

by Vitamin.Joe on 10/18/22Big Night Live - Boston

The Knocks are amazing, they have so much range. Plus, they make their shows feel like intimate house parties (only way better). There's a clean energy and wholesomeness to the Knocks where you leave their show refreshed and better able to face this world, but it's still a party and you'll get the festival EDM, hip hop, nu-disco, and other flavors mixed in. I lowkey want to follow them on tour.

    Crowd pleasers

by Barktown on 10/18/22Big Night Live - Boston

Cannons and The Knocks brought superior sound, fun interactions, and a special presence to their show at Big Night Live. They both played their hits better than the recordings and truly looked like they loved being there

    Best Show Ever!!

by Gussy Whoa on 10/12/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

This was the first time going to a concert at the music hall where the chairs were removed and man was I happy about that. It made it SO much easier to dance and get into the vibe of the show. It also helped that we got to witness 2-AMAZING Bands play for us and they did not disappoint. Our crew had the best time attending and enjoying all the good vibes of the performances! We cannot wait to attend another show like this!

Was fun for first concert of choice

by Will Hallman on 10/12/22The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

Got front row on right and J Patt acknowledge my roomie and I after a few attempts. Only thing wasn’t as cool was not knowing main band started 2.5 hours after opening at 8. Good thing we came late but overall I’ve always jammed the knocks so hope they come again.
