About

The King’s Singers - GOLD

With “voices of spun gold” (BBC Music Magazine), The King’s Singers are masters of vocal harmony. These polished entertainers will sing a mix of ancient and contemporary, classical and popular, all delivered with “pinpoint precision and total rapport” (The Times, UK).

This irresistibly charismatic ensemble performs on their whistle-stop ‘Gold’ world tour to celebrate 50 years in the business. Double Grammy® Awards winners, The King’s Singers are beloved the world over, from London’s Royal Albert Hall to New York’s Carnegie Hall, and now – for one perfromance only – at Perth Concert Hall and Sydney’s majestic St Mary’s Cathedral.

In Perth they will perfrom with the St. George's Cathedral Consort hailed for their ‘faultless intonation and impeccable unity’ (The Australian), under the directorship of Limelight Magazine Artist of the Year nominee, Joseph Nolan. In Sydney they will be joined by special guests the Choristers of St Mary’s Cathedral Choir – who will themselves be celebrating the 200th anniversary of their founding.

This celebratory programme will feature especially commissioned anniversary pieces by some of the worlds great contemporary choral composers including Nico Muhly, Bob Chilcott and Alexander L’Estrange.

Acclaimed worldwide for their virtuosity, life-affirming energy and heart-gripping harmonies, The King’s Singers take you on a mesmerising musical trip from the Renaissance to now.

“ The superlative vocal sextet”

THE TIMES (UK)

“…effortless, stylistically varied and beautifully blended.”

THE WASINGTON POST

“…a musical group of the very highest order.”

King Singers great- dancers not so much,

by Ts1028 on 2/10/13Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

King Singers great- dancers not so much, they were very contemporary, and did not seem to complement the singing.. the dancing was more of a distraction. .

    Disappointed

by voicesinharmony on 2/10/13Curtis M Phillips Center for Performing Arts - Gainesville

I love beautiful vocal harmony which is why I have followed The King's Singers for about 25 years. I bought tickets the first day they were available and have been looking forward to hearing them for months. I had no idea what the program would be, but I didn't care. I love everything they do, but not Friday night. I was hugely disappointed. I expected to hear beautiful music. What I heard was droning, discordant noise. I understand that artists get tired of doing the same things and want to spread their wings, but usually they add a new piece into the music that the audience loves and expects. If nothing else, the write up should have told the ticket buyer that this was all new music that included several avant guard choices. Many in the audience left at the intermission and the remaining audience showed no interest in an encore. This was not The King's Singers that I know and love.

    Stellar

by GreggisOld on 11/20/11Southern Theatre - Columbus

This vocal group perfomed at an extremely high level. It was a pleasure to hear the individual, strong voices blend into one sound, like keys in a chord of music. The retrospective of songs and their styles that spanned centuries was impressive.

    The Kings Singers

by Porschecarrera on 11/7/11Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

A bit boring for my wife and me. Needed to sing more familiar songs instead of esoteric poetry. The tone of the voices was excellent, but it just did not hold our interest.

King's Singers+The Southern: what could be better?

by Dunadan on 11/5/11Southern Theatre - Columbus

The King's Singers are incredible, always have been, always will be. (membership changes over their nearly 40 years have been, well, just membership changes. maybe has changed their character & sound in subtle ways, but they are as great as ever!). The Southern Theatre is incredible, especially for a small ensemble like this! The King's Singers in the Southern Theatre - what could be better??

    teens loved it!!

by Marianohio on 11/4/11Southern Theatre - Columbus

My 16 year old and 12 year old grandsons came with me after seeing one of the "funny"songs online. I was afraid they'd be bored with the "serious" stuff, but they - and I - loved everything they did! My older grandson is in chorus and really appreciated the harmonies and techniques and the younger one - in band - just plain enjoyed it!! I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to expose my grandkids to something this special.

    Sublime!

by KSfreak on 3/20/11Gaillard Auditorium - Charleston

The King's Singers were absolutely wonderful in every respect. They have a sound that is unmatched by any group of comparable size. Another wonderful thing about them is that they will talk with you after the show. I have never seen another group of this caliber that will do that.
