The Killers are an American rock band who have sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Their most recent release, a greatest hits compilation called Direct Hits, was released in November 2013.
Formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by lead singer Brandon Flowers, a former valet parking attendant, the Killers combine catchy synth-pop melodies with clever, edgy lyrics. Influenced by Duran Duran, disco, and David Bowie, the Killers are known for their dashing stage appearances and danceable hit songs. Their first single,” Mr. Brightside,” scored them a Top Ten hit in the UK before achieving radio success in the US. Driven by that single’s power, the Killers then released their debut album, Hot Fuss, which went straight to the top of several international charts. Follow-up hits like “Somebody Told Me,” “All These Things I’ve Done,” and “Smile Like You Mean It” all charted high as well. The band was suddenly thrust into the spotlight, with very little touring experience. Thanks to a huge demand for their live shows, they soon polished their concert act to a professional sheen, delighting ticket holders. Their follow up to Hot Fuss, Sam’s Town, included the No.1 “When You Were Young” and was certified platinum. Direct Hits includes new tracks, including the recent hit “Shot At The Night.” The Killers continue to write, perform and record, and fans can expect more new music from them in 2014.
