I attended the Invictus Games literally because Prince Harry would be there. Despite that, from the first night at the Opening Ceremonies, I was enthralled with it all. These games are Olympic-style sporting events for men and women who have given, not just their time, but parts of themselves to serve their country. Some lost a limb (or more), some lost brain function, some (if not all) suffer from PTSD. The horrors they have seen and been a part of would cripple most of us, but these veterans have not given up. They have fought through surgeries, rehab and internal struggles and through sport (and camaraderie) have found purpose again. I was truly moved and inspired by the stories and the courage that was displayed throughout the week's events. 14 countries were represented and we all cheered for everyone. It didn't really matter who won because the true spirit of the games is to celebrate being alive, continuing to fight for your best life and encouraging others to do the same. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but, like Prince Harry said in closing, see you in Toronto in 2017!
