About

THE HOLD STEADY IN CONCERT:

Anchored by a muscular classic rock base, Brooklyn's the Hold Steady masterfully tell stories of struggle and redemption, punctuating their thoughtful compositions with sing-along choruses and wailing organ playing. At their live shows, the band's boot-stomping heartland piano rock runs the full gamut of emotions, as frontman Craig Finn leads fans through the band's  catalog of narrative-based songs and poetry. With their newest album Teeth Dreams due out in 2014, fans can expect more fantastic performances from the band as they hit the road for an international tour in support of the release.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After a 2003 viewing of The Band's seminal concert documentary The Last Waltz, Brooklyn musicians Craig Finn and Tad Kubler were inspired to create a group that would revive and update heartland rock. They immediately formed the Hold Steady, releasing their full-length debut Almost Killed Me the following year to a substantial amount of critical buzz. Since then, the band's no-frills approach to narrative-based rock has gained them a cult following, propelling several of their albums to chart in both the US and UK. In support of the 2014 release of their sixth studio album Teeth Dreams, the band will treat fans to another rousing string of shows as they hit the road for an international tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Really tight show with a whole different feel for THS as this was the first time I saw them with no keyboard player. Great selection of songs from new album and some nice older tunes as well."

"I couldn't believe The Hold Steady was gonna play such an awesome small venue. I was a little nervous the show would suck because of the small room but nonetheless the venue was amazing as was the sound and the band."

"The Hold Steady blew me away Thursday night. The 3 guitar attack is amazing. Finn enjoys the hell out of himself on stage and they had my attention for the entire 2 hours they played. Best show I've seen in a few years."

Great Time at Brooklyn Bowl LV

by AzNate on 10/11/23Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas - Las Vegas

Go see the Hold Steady. Show up for Built To Spill, 'cause they are great, too. What a great time at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Plenty of room to groove, easy access to the many bars located throughout the venue.

    Still the best!

The Hold Steady delivered as always with a fantastic show. No matter how many times I see them they never get old.

    Great show, great venue

    by Beavers on 7/5/23

The Hold Steady and Dillinger Four are amazing bands that are even better live. Great to see them in the Salt Shed too. Fantastic venue. Great sound and atmosphere. Great staff. I hope bands stop playing the damn House of Blues and start hitting great spots like the Salt Shed.

    Hell of a stacked show.

    by Andy on 7/4/23

Dillinger Four were good. The Mountain Goats were amazing. The Hold Steady were great. Venue is solid. The sound could be a little better, and they are sticklers for not letting anyone up in the stands even with hundred of empty seats despite them needing to sit down because of health and age issues.

    Great love show

    by Fpv on 7/3/23

A lot of bands could learn how to put on a live show from the hold steady. The energy is amazing.

pretty venue, but values timing over audience experience

    by ES on 7/3/23

Pretty venue, good crowd control outside and in, cushy seats. But why would you pull The Mountain Goats before they finished their set? All they had left was their iconic final encore of This Year, but it got "cut for time"?? I know I wasn't the only frustrated fan. It's a rock concert, an extra five minutes isn't gonna kill anybody.

Chicago never seemed tired last night…

    by Eric on 7/3/23

First time at The Salt Shed and it did not disappoint. What an incredible venue. The Hold Steady were transcendent! They brought their A game with an enthusiasm and irreverence that only they possess. If you have the chance, do yourself a favor and see them live!

Couldn't Have Had a Better New Year's Eve

by JayBeckett on 1/3/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Went for the opening act, The So So Glos, but came out of the show a big fan of The Hold Steady. The energy these guys have onstage is surreal and you'll love every moment of it, whether you're a new fan or a diehard fan of theirs. The crowd was incredibly welcoming and full of great people. Plain and simply, whether or not you believe in perfection, this show was as near perfect as you can get to.
