About

THE GREGG ALLMAN BAND IN CONCERT: Southern rock legend and multiple Grammy Award-winner Gregg Allman first won over fans with The Allman Brothers Band more than 40 years ago, and he's still bringing his inimitable talents to the stage with The Gregg Allman Band. This Rock and Roll Hall of Famer gives it everything he's got in concert, leading his band through barn-burning jams and switching between guitar and keyboards to treat audiences to a non-stop party. But it all comes back to his signature vocals – a combination of country twang and bluesy howl – which will have fans singing along with classics like "Midnight Rider", "One Way Out", and "Whipping Post". The Gregg Allman Band always brings the house down, giving ticket buyers all the epic solos, hard-driving rhythms, and killer tunes they've come to expect from this preeminent rocker over the course of his storied career. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT: Gregg Allman grew up in Daytona Beach, FL where he and his older brother Duane played in local bands starting in the mid-'60s. Following some moderately successful stints in the music business, the two relocated to Macon, GA and formed The Allman Brothers Band. The group dazzled crowds with their epic concerts, and even caught on with the mainstream rock audiences by the dawn of the '70s. But things began to fall apart for the group when a motorcycle accident claimed Duane's life in 1971. Following the tragedy, Gregg released his solo debut Laid Back in 1973, which created a schism between him and the band. Soon, the excesses of celebrity coupled with group in-fighting tore them apart, leaving Allman to pursue a solo career. His 1986 hit "I'm No Angel" helped Allman revitalize his career, but he truly recaptured the public imagination when The Allman Brothers Band reunited in 1989. The group continued in one incarnation or another for the next 25 years before amicably calling it a day. Back on his own, the legendary singer still brings the bluesy sound and extended jams that fans are looking for with his talented ensemble The Gregg Allman Band.

    Great music; some logistics issues

    by emory95 on 11/1/16Lakewood Amphitheatre - Atlanta

All the music was very good.! I would have liked to hear more than 30 minutes of Mother's Finest, but understand they filled in for another group that could not make the 10/29 concert reschedule. ZZ Top was amazing! It was true entertainment ("a show") and they basically sound the same as 30 years ago. Gregg Allman and band was a bit lackluster, but I think it's because it was mellow music after a full day of rock. Logistics: There was no schedule provided/posted electronically so one would know who played when and on which stage. I was really upset that I bought a "covered seating" ticket for a 4pm start time (both printed clearly on the tickets), but was not allowed access to my covered seat (at main stage) until 5pm. That's totally unacceptable!! We had no blanket or chairs to sit on the lawn, so we had to move or stand for over an hour (gates opened at 3:30 and we were some of the first into the ampitheatre). And, I'm not a spring chicken anymore.

Gregg Allman...what else needs to be said?

    by Countrygurl88 on 11/1/16Lakewood Amphitheatre - Atlanta

Laid Back Festival was a great event. Mainly went to see Brotha Gregg, but really enjoyed the fun set that ZZ Top played, and Blackberry Smoke was amazing. Didn't really get to check out the other bands that were there, but that was mostly by choice. Had lawn tickets, which I prefer at an outdoor concert, so that was good. Overall, had a great time!

    Gregg Allman was GREAT!!!!!

by hbheel on 5/17/16House of Blues Myrtle Beach - North Myrtle Beach

This show was fantastic from start to finish! The band was a tight group of superb musicians and Greg is really putting on a good show now...even the light show was fanastic and beautiful. He opened with Statesboro Blues and finished with not my cross to bear and whipping post. Standback was an out right incredible jam! Plenty of good songs in between from multi colored lady to midnight rider and a coulpe of new songs. Jamoie's Jassz Band opened up and they were fantastic too...they need to get around more because they were great. A sax solo on Blue Sky was super. It's like Jamoie said "if you dont have a good time tonight its your own fault!"

47 Years of enjoying Gregg Allman

by aureus on 4/18/16Cone Denim Entertainment Center - GREENSBORO

I first saw Gregg Allman and The Allman Brothers in a local bar in the Summer of 1969, and I have enjoyed his music ever since. Gregg and his band played 15 songs including an encore. The high points of the evening were "Midnight Rider" and "i'm No Angel." I enjoyed hearing "Whipping Post" slowed down and played in 4/4 time. Marc Quinones, also from ABB, delighted the crowd with a percussion solo. Gregg's voice is not quite as strong as it used to be; his trailed off at the end of some lines, but everyone knew the words. He showed his versatility by playing his Hammond B-3, a Stratocaster, and an acoustic Gibson.

    It was good

by Oripper2 on 4/18/16Cone Denim Entertainment Center - GREENSBORO

The Greg Allman concert was pretty good. His voice is still amazing, and I did love that he played songs that made him famous, and that the fans loved. His lead guitarist and keyboards guy were great. It was a bit on the jazzy side for me, too many horns. "tied to the Whipping post was done with a touch of jazzy rendition, and that was a bit strange but it was good. He was very late coming on, and of course, those of us from the 70's should have expected that - but he was really late - and it was a weekday. It would have been a bit more respectful on his part if he had been a bit earlier. Of course, the concert didn't have the passion or
