About

Considered by many to be the Great American Novel, The Great Gatsby is at once titillating, fascinating and shocking in its portrayal of The Jazz Age that was soon to disappear from the American landscape. In this first authorized adaptation since 1926, Simon Levy brings the humor, irony, pathos and loveliness of F. Scott Fitzgerald's American classic to the stage. Navigate the languid atmosphere of wealth and privilege with Nick Carraway as he observes the glittering, elaborate parties of his neighbor, the infamous and illusive Jay Gatsby.

    Odd time

by PShake on 5/4/18Clowes Memorial Hall - Indianapolis

At first when I bought the ticket, I thought that the 11:00AM show time was a bit odd. For the most part the audience members were high school recruits for Butler. I certainly felt like a fish out of water. However, the performance was exceptional, and I enjoyed the period costumes, language, and music. In conclusion, it was a great adaption of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

    Great Gatsby

One of my favorite books. I would definitely say that paying the extra money for better seats paid off.

The Great Gatsby was just fun!

by LisLew on 4/13/15Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

Truly talented artists portraying the story we all know and love! Daisy was my personal favorite...over the top personality and just excellent performance! Would definitely recommend and would go again given the chance.

    The Best Birthday EVER!

by CheckeredFoxPaws on 3/27/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

I purchased tickets for The Great Gatsby for both me and my mom to go see this for my birthday and it was PHENOMENAL!! Gatsby is my favorite book so I was immediately hooked, but this performance even won over my mom who had never read the book. The set was gorgeous and the acting was great! It felt like I was watching the characters straight off the pages! If this event ever comes to Lexington or to a local place near me again I will DEFINITELY buy tickets again! Absolutely the best birthday ever!

Terrible. I've seen much better high school productions. Set and acting was poor at best.

The Great Gatsby was staged, beautifully!

by DBuchanan on 3/18/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

My husband and I attended the production of the Great Gatsby at the Lexington, Ky. Opera House. We thought the set was beautiful, the lighting was complimentary to the action, the costumes, spectacular...........exclusive of the cloche hat which could have been substituted for a larger (more attractive for an afternoon tea!) brim, especially in the scene that was supposed to have been at Nick's house. We thought the company was fairly well cast....... except for the actress that played Daisy. Perhaps it was the direction she was given BUT it was clear that she had no conception of the manners and actions of a southern born and bred lady. We found her to be manic and jerky in her movements and with absolutely no grace and charm which would have been the hallmark of the character.

    A thoroughly entertaining experience

by oldhoppy on 3/17/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

I have only seen a dozen or so theatrical performances in my life so I have no idea about the nuance that art critics use to score a play but I was caught up in the story and engrossed in the frivolity and the excess of the era to a point that time between the curtains disappeared .
