About

Tennessee Williams' masterpiece "The Glass Menagerie" premiered on Broadway in 1945 and was the author's first great success. Set in St. Louis in the 1930s, the play focuses on the Wingfield family—Tom, who is torn between his obligation to his family and his desire to break away, his overbearing mother Amanda and his frail sister Laura, whose memory he cannot escape. "The Glass Menagerie," a classic work from a major playwright, continues to captivate audiences.

    Great performance!/CBT's The Glass Menagerie

by JLG23 on 4/13/15The Royal George Theater - Chicago

The ColorBox Theatre's rendition of Tennessee Williams' classic "The Glass Menagerie" is an outstanding show with wonderful performances by four great actors. You will feel as if you have stepped back to 1930's St. Louis, where you will meet a family of three. A loving (but nagging) mother, Amanda, wants nothing but the best for her troubled son and daughter - Tom and Laura. The two face their own challenges in their early adulthood. This "memory play" gives you a glimpse at a moment in time in the life of this interesting and complicated family. This show will leave an impression on you!

    Very well done

I could only make it through the first half of the play. They used a mist throughout the whole thing that made me sick to my stomach. However the first half of the play was very good the actors did an amazing job and they made good use of the stage for what little area they had. I heard the second half of the play was even better, wish I could of stayed for the rest of it
