About

The Fantasticks, the world's longest-running musical, is a captivating and simple romantic comedy about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall.  The audience uses its imagination to follow El Gallo as he creates a world of moonlight and magic, and then pain and disillusionment, until the boy and girl find their way back to one other.  The score, which includes "Try To Remember", "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain", is as timeless as the story itself.  Having played a record-breaking 17,162 performances in its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village,  and recently celebrated its 20,000th performance at the Snapple Theater Center, The Fantasticks is a true New York institution which The Wall Street Journal calls "THE PERFECT MUSICAL".

Wonderful Show but closing on June 2, 2017

by FreespiritJanice on 5/25/17The Theater Center - New York

This show is a gem after all these years - 47! I fell madly in love with El Gallo. If you get a chance, see it before it closes on June 2, 2017. Only complaint is the worn out seats which I hope they replace after the show closes.

    Completely charming, engaging show

by Thereforetheweekend on 5/17/17The Theater Center - New York

This show is put on in a small space in a small theater and it is perfect. The voices were wonderful, the performers totally engaged with each other and with the audience. Everything as it should be---the humor hilarious, the sweetness touching, the goofiness made natural. We were swept into their world.

    Fantastic!

by lunariousj on 4/20/17Jerry Orbach Theater - NY

This is my second time to attend a Broadway show..well, more like my first-time ever to attend a Off-Broadway show. Before coming to see the show, I was in doubt that it might not be good because of all the bad reviews here. After seeing this, I completely changed my mind and I loved it. The actors were hilarious! The actors who played Luisa and Matt were great, both are young and good looking actors with a beautiful, powerful voice. Would recommend! Especially when there's a deal to buy 2 tickets for a price of one!

    Fantasticks was fab!

by Ankva on 4/18/17The Theater Center - New York

Well enjoyed by my 9 and 14 year old as well as myself. Lovely small intimate theatre was a nice change if you've seen a few large Broadway productions. I would go see again, well worth it!

    Get there before it closes!

by AndrewLloydSheaffee on 4/13/17The Theater Center - New York

This show is theatre at its best. Pure magic without the benefit of sets, projections, orchestra, and amplification. Pure singing and voices without microphones are such a rare treat.
