An Irish Night at the Stanley

by CAMandJMF on 4/11/16The Stanley - Utica

This was an evening of great Irish music, fun, audience participation and laughter. Who could ask for more from a show?? The Elders were amazing as always. The opening bands were also good and offered wonderful entertainment.

The Elders An Irish Night At The Stanley fantasti

by momglow on 4/7/15The Stanley - Utica

The theater was so clean and the walls and lights made us feel like we stepped back in time. We found the volunteers polite and helpful. How nice to have someone open the door to let us in and was not only walked to the elevator but escorted upstairs. Loved my seats, too. Cushy and comfortable with plenty of leg room. Even the restrooms were so clean and spacious. As for the three bands all i can say is ...they all rocked. It was a great build up to the last band. We haven't had a good chance to hear Blarney Rebel band before and will check them out again Hair of the Dog sounded as good as ever. Even with the new members the same sound was heard. We love the Elders. Always a good show and toe tapping tunes. Glad to see the two men that came on stage did not ruin the show. It was well handled by the staff. I hope that never takes away from the shows that are held here. Finally the dancers were breathless. Well coordinated. Love their outfits, too.

    The Elders never disappoint!

by Rebelation on 4/6/15The Stanley - Utica

The more I see the Elders perform, the more I want to see them again. Their musicianship, both instrumentally and vocally take me to places I very rarely go. Their close harmonies are enthralling, and their sense of fun in second to none. I can't wait for them to come back to the Great American Irish Festival in July.

    The Elders were Amazing!!!

by Houray on 3/17/15Uptown Theater - Kansas City

We have been coming to the Hoolie for the past 6 years. Our group varies from 10-14 each year and everyone enjoys themselves. We had a great time again this year.

The Best Show They've Ever Had!!!!

by gksmithlcw on 3/17/15Uptown Theater - Kansas City

I've seen The Elders many times now but this is the first time I made it out to their annual Hoolie; it was worth the wait AND the drive (from Indianapolis, IN). The Pride of Kansas City didn't disappoint; the show was opened by a nice long set of Irish dances by a local Irish dance academy and then the Boys played a nice, long, energetic set that lasted about 2 and a half hours counting the THREE encores! My wife and I are thinking it may become an annual event to drive out to KC and catch this show as long as they feel like putting it on.

    The Elders were astounding!

by SusieandJack on 3/17/15Uptown Theater - Kansas City

Not knowing any of the songs, we were surprised and delighted with not only their folk-rock, but also their energy! We laughed, moved to the beat, and joined the Irish in their rowdy display of pride with the crowd that filled the Uptown. The Elders' infectious melody and beat make Kansas City proud! ...added surprise--the amazing Irish dancers!

    Elders with respect! Hoolie 2014

by Irishprivateer on 3/24/14Uptown Theatre - Kansas City

The Elders returned to the Uptown in Kansas City for their annual Hoolie, and as usual did not disappoint. Seems like the Hoolie is a tradition of not only a grand party...but introducing new members as well....who always seem to joinby adding a seamless transistion....From keyboards, a new drummer and now Colin playing whistle and fiddle is a new joy. The band played some new material and some standard favorites that at this point with the band are now timeless for any loyal Elder's fan. New tunes are melodic and danceable. Multi instrumentation by Brent, Norm and Kian have rounded out a new sound, but very much the Elders to be sure. Seems like the sky is the limit we these lads. With a haze of smoke reminiscent of an evening of fog in Dublin, lights moving and augmenting the music ( how do they do that?) a rousing frenzy in 2 hours plus ending with a giant mirror ball, confetti and balloons in the audience....the crowd was happy and exhausted! The evening was being filmed for a concert DVD for a later release and broadcast. We hope The Elders always return for a Hoolie and some mighty fine crac every year!
