    disappointed

by AP on 2/18/20Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

While there were some theatrical (opening/closing scenes to set in modern relevance) and acting that was well done, the overall agenda of the performance with such emphasis and build up on scenes of changes with puberty and first kiss and then particularly the actors introducing themselves by their "pronouns" during Q&A, unfortunately overshadowed the timeless and great story of Anne Frank that should be shared, studied, and learned from, to the point of being not appropriate for much of the younger student audience.

    Excellent

by Sybele on 2/10/20Aventura Arts & Cultural Center - Aventura

I was more than pleased at the performance. A brilliant adaptation of the Diary of AnneFrank. It represents her message and used diversity in action by the integration of the actors race. The message was more than clear. Like I said, brilliant! Congrats to the best acting as well. Anne was portrayed extremely well as were her parents, the Van Dams and Düssel. I hope it moves from town to town and remains active for quite some time. Very clever writing, very clear message, very entertaining, intelligent and well thought out and performed.

    This play is very good.

by Thestormsawit on 10/11/10Wells Theatre - Norfolk

The production was very interesting in trying to depict the hardships that occurred for these persecuted families and individual. It is understandable of the difficulty in compressing two years of hiding into a couple hours of informing, entertaining, and to reach the emotional side of the audience. I think it did in the short aftermath of their capture and each's true outcome in that cruel time. The set's construction is a definite member of the play. All the cast members were excellent.

    The Diary of Anne Frank

by sksvanguard on 9/26/10Wells Theatre - Norfolk

This was my the first time that my wife and I had been to a play in a very long time. Even though this was not a story with a happy ending it was something that I was compelled to go to because of the subject matter. As hard as it is to look at our collective past sometimes it is necessary to do so. The play was well performed and all the actors did an amazing job expressing the fear and hurt that this family and many others endured during this awful time, but also the joy and love that could be found.

    Anne Frank

by GailWhite on 9/24/10Wells Theatre - Norfolk

This play was done beautifully. The actress was so great at playing the younger Anne and the more mature Anne. The actor playing Otto made the show. He is very understated in the book, but in the play his role was increased. It was a nice perspective.

    WOW! Wonderful!

by Fizzball on 10/24/09Desoto County Civic Center - Southaven

Unforgettable story done to perfection..Anne was superb! She had a life of her own. The other characters supported her beautifully..just, Right There..The opening reminded BOLDLY what was about to be shown, some in darkness [much appreciated, thank you; also glad my friend wasn't the shooter] The scene opens with the News, HIDE or DIE. Hidden away, few personal belongings- & little personal space, friends helping, little food, & love always LOVE & God & the want to Live. Going through hell, writing down thoughts, events, hopes & dreams, & life around her, becoming a young lady-in full bloom, she was quite a girl..& this was quite a cast. Friends, parents, sister, extra & Pater..all perfectly cast, did a great job. Loved the way it was told how each person Ended or NOT; Never realized one was still alive & remembered. God give His most bountiful blessings to her every day & always. Amen
