I've been a fan of David Grisman and Ramblin Jack Elliot for over 40 years, and though the title of the show should have let me know this was going to be something different, I guess I was still expecting more of my old favorites. Jack was fun as usual, and as I knew he was getting up there in years my expectations weren't all that high. I actually was hoping he might ramble a little more, his guitar playing was great, he was having some trouble with his voice and a cough but overall very enjoyable.
Grisman's playing and singing was superb, but the song choices were a little disappointing, and I disliked a couple of his band members, in particular the guitarist's voice (whiny) and the banjo pickers picking (to me not up to par). Fiddler was terrific, and so was the bass. They did best with one or two examples of David's dawg music. I will say that the audience really seemed to enjoy it all, so don't take my word for it, go see them for yourselves.
